And what time do you call this Fig?'
'Apologies headmaster we, er, got caught up in something along the way'
The tall figure looming above her, who she assumed was headmaster Black of which professor Fig had warned her about, eyed her up and down. He sighed in evident annoyance.
'What an inconvenience, well don't just stand there, in you go' he ushered, shooing a hand at her in the direction of the Great Hall. She glanced back towards the professor as the door before her opened, who gave her a small smile accompanied by a nod of reassurance.
Almost every head in the hall turned in her direction at the noise of the door reopening and the headmaster returning to the room. Quiet, muffled conversations could be heard from each table. Probably wondering who the strange girl following him was.
'We have one more sorting, Weasley!' he exclaimed as they approached the front of the hall. She glanced towards the much less intimidating lady, who smiled kindly at her, as she joined the girls side with a tatty, sorcerers hat in her hand.
'Please take a seat on the stool'
She followed the lady's instruction, perching on the stool as the hat was placed upon her head.
'hmm...older than the rest... interesting' the old hat mumbled.
'This one certainly has the bravery of a gryffindor... the brains of a ravenclaw... the loyalty of a hufflepuff... yet as resourceful and ambitious as a slytherin...' breathed the hat, wobbling on her head as it spoke.
'Slytherin!' it boomed, erupting cheers from the green table. She smiled, hopping off the stool as the lady transfigured her robes to green.
Making her way to the slytherin table, a hand grabbed her wrist, amongst the chaos of students patting her on the back and shaking her shoulder. Coming face to face with the culprit. A short girl, with a violet braid bouncing on her shoulder as she grinned at her.
'sit with me! i believe you're in my year now' she took a seat next to the short girl.
'I'm Loretta Belmont, a pleasure to meet you' sticking out her hand waiting to be shaken.
'Winter Drake' She shook Loretta's hand and listened as she began to brief her on the most lenient professors, people to avoid and the hottest boys in school; in her opinion.
'See over there? End of the table' she poked her head forward.
'That's Sebastian Sallow and Ominis Gaunt. Now they're who you'll be having dreams about within your first week, i guarantee' she giggled at Loretta, returning her gaze to her, not before capturing another glimpse of two of the boys. They were definitely nice to look at.
'See they've got your attention already' she rolled her eyes at Loretta.
'Not before i'll have theirs' she grinned as Loretta grinned back, tucking into some roast potatoes she'd just loaded onto her plate.
'Now that i'm sure, with those long, luscious curls of yours. One bat of your lashes and they're done for' she watched as Loretta finished her mouthful of potatoes.
'Although do be careful, they aren't the only ones who'll be swooning over you, if they aren't already' Loretta pointed behind them. She turned around to be met with two ginger gryffindor boys staring intently back at her. Clearly caught off guard by her catching them staring, they both flushed red and looked away.
Loretta looked at her with an expression as if to say 'see?'.
Students began to leave the table and the great hall, much to her dismay as she was enjoying herself.
'let's go, i'll show you the common room and your room'
