12 years later
I can't believe I am about to start this new chapter of my life! I am so excited to leave for college. Living at an MC compound has benefits, but it is not the norm.
I hardly have any memories of my life before becoming the princess of the Fire Bringers. Dad continues to be the president but is already talking about retiring in around five years. He is still young by usual standards but wants to enjoy more time with Mamma and the twins.
Mamma...that woman changed my life, and I adore her. I sometimes think how different my life would have been if I hadn't met her. I know my real mom loved me and tried her best to provide for me, but my hazy memories of that time usually show me images of me alone or hungry. That is until my first-grade teacher took the time to care and found out what was happening at home.
I once asked her if she regretted getting involved; after all, her life changed dramatically after we both got attacked by the man who killed my mom. In her typical style, she hugged me tight and said that meeting me was the best moment of her life.
People in the MC always tell stories about how my mom changed the vibes at the compound. Dad had changed the club to become legal, profitable, and powerful, but Mamma gave the club a heart. We work like a big family. Some people, looking from the outside, judge us; some think we are a cult or a commune. I really don't care because I know I couldn't be luckier to have such a loving group of people around me.
Our first Christmas together was amazing, and the decorations got a bit overboard as time passed. But the year that I remember the most is our second Christmas together.
Dad, Pops (Dad's dad), and Grandpa Olson had been secretly talking while Mom and Auntie Marlene were working in the kitchen preparing the Christmas Eve dinner.
I was only eight, but I remember it as if it were yesterday. Mamma was preparing me to go to bed, and I asked her to let me sleep in front of the tree because I wanted to catch Santa. She told me that Santa wouldn't come in if I was there but that I could go one last time to check the cookies and milk I left for him.
When we walked hand in hand into the living room, Dad was kneeling in front of the tree with a huge flower bouquet and a little box in his hand. Mamma froze at the sight, but I started dancing around because I knew what was happening. Daddy had let me know that he was going to ask her to marry him. I was excited because that meant I would be a flower girl.
The wedding took place that summer, and they both looked like a couple out of a fairy tale. By then, Auntie Marlene and Basi had solved their issues and had announced they were getting married by the end of that year.
By the time I finished fourth grade, Mamma had given birth to my siblings, Ava Luna and Adriel. They are fraternal twins, and I love them, even though they can be annoying sometimes.
Now, I am packing my bags to move to college. I am planning to do a Bachelor of Science in Cybersecurity. You can blame Uncle GD for this. I spent many hours with him at his office. He moved out of the compound when he married Auntie Carla.
It took GD almost a year and a half to convince her to give him a real chance, but their romance bloomed fast once she accepted. I have a little cousin who is five years old now. During the summers, I used to babysit and learn from my uncle about computers, systems, security, etc. Uncle GD still works for the MC but is training some prospects to take over so he can focus fully on his Cybersecurity private business.
Auntie Selene left the compound shortly after Marlene got married. She decided to join a non-profit medical organization that sent professionals worldwide to help in rural and poor areas. She is happy, keeps in contact with us, and visits as often as possible. The nomad who broke her heart so many years ago stops by occasionally and always asks for her. I guess their love was not written in the stars—unlike my parents' relationship, which everyone claims was fated.
Dad and Mamma always said that even though they didn't believe in fate, they both eventually accepted that, somehow, their relationship was guided by a series of unexpected events.
Their story inspires me, and I hope I find my true love someday. I am young, and I have many experiences to have. I always thought my destiny was to be with my best friend, Jason. But I guess the stars had another plan for me because once Jason moved from home school to regular, he became a popular guy. He had several girlfriends, and once he prospected, he became a typical MC man-whore. I decided to put some distance between us because every time I saw him with one of his hookups, it made me sick.
Now, I am leaving and burying my first puppy love in the trunk of memorabilia going up in our house's attic. That box has photos, movie tickets, books, and trinkets Jason and I exchanged throughout the years. They will be hidden in the dark, damp attic, just as my love for him will extinguish as I live new adventures in college.
Even if my heart is a bit cracked, I know it is not the end of the world. I am not the first or last person to have unrequited love.
Overall, my life has turned out perfect, all thanks to my Giant and Pixie. Those two are still as in love as they were when they exchanged their wedding vows.
They are the perfect example of how sometimes fate is unavoidable, and love could definitely be written in the stars.
AUTHOR'S NOTE
Thank you for reading this story and for your patience. I debated with multiple ways to write the Epilogue but eventually decided that Samantha was who brought these two together, so it was only fair for her to tell the last chapter. Hope you liked it! Please comment and vote!
