The bell rings, and the halls of McKinley High are crowded with students rushing to their next class. Melody, who's already late, hurries down the hallway, arms full of books and papers, her mind juggling assignments, rehearsals, and her responsibilities within the Glee club.
As she turns a corner, she accidentally bumps into Luca, the new exchange student from Italy, who's carrying a stack of books himself. The collision causes both of them to stumble, and a few books fall to the floor.
"Oh, sorry! I wasn't looking where I was going." Melody said.
Luca nodded. "No problem, I should've been paying attention too."
They both bend down to pick up the books, exchanging a brief, awkward smile.
Melody asked. "Looks like you're still figuring this place out, huh?"
"Yeah, this school is huge. I'm Luca, by the way." He smiles.
Melody slightly smiles. "Melody. Nice to meet you, Luca."
They exchange smiles again, but it's clear they're both in a rush.
Luca laughed. "Do you know where Room 211 is? I'm supposed to meet someone there for a class, but I'm totally lost."
Melody pointed. "Yeah, it's just down the hall, take a left and it should be right there."
Luca nodded. "Thanks. You seem like you know your way around here."
Melody explained. "I've been here long enough to learn the shortcuts." She pauses, realizing that she's running late too. "Speaking of which, I've gotta run. But if you need anything, feel free to ask me. I'm usually around the Glee club or in the auditorium."
Luca laughed, nodding. "Thanks! I'll keep that in mind."
They exchange a friendly nod before Melody hurries off to her next class. Luca watches her go for a second before heading in the direction she pointed out, feeling a little more at ease in his new school.
The school cafeteria is buzzing with activity as students eat, chat, and move between tables. Melody, her books scattered across the table, tries to focus on a homework assignment but struggles to concentrate. She's been juggling a mountain of responsibilities lately and feels like she's barely keeping up.
She hears a familiar voice from across the table. It's her younger sister, Cassie, who slides into the seat opposite her with a mischievous grin.
Cassie asked. "So, I saw you talking to the new guy in the hallway earlier. Did you make him feel all at home yet?"
Melody looks up, her face flushing slightly. She hadn't realized Cassie had been watching her. "What are you talking about?"
Cassie leans in, her grin widening as she teases her sister. "Oh, don't play innocent. I saw you and Luca bump into each other. I mean, it's like a meet-cute from a rom-com. You two practically had your own soundtrack!"
