"You know you could meet a boy too."
McKenzie Lee had always been a fighter, though not in the way her sister Devon was. Where Devon channeled her energy into debate team and academics, McKenzie poured hers into creating—painting, sketching, and molding the world into something she could control. Her hands were never idle, whether gripping a paintbrush or carrying the weight of her family's struggles. Sure, she was also on debate and was smart, art was always her path. Life had been far from kind to the Lee twins, but McKenzie never let it break her. She wasn't just artsy; she was strong, resilient, and quietly determined to carve out her place in the world, no matter how hard she had to fight for it.
For years, McKenzie and Devon saw what karate was doing to the valley, but they never felt it was for them until a certain someone showed up at one of their debate competitions. But that moment will come later for now they are just normal girls not badass karate students that will come soon enough.
Right now, it's early in the valley on the first day of school. McKenzie is still sound asleep until her alarm rang through the clear air in her messy room. Waking up for school was never something McKenzie enjoyed but as it was her and her twin sister Devons first day of 8th grade she may as well enjoy it but this eagerness to wake up will not last her long. McKenzie slowly makes her way out of bed. Happy she had planned her outfit at least a week before school started. McKenzie very much has her own fashion sense. She likes to wear colors and patterns, but she makes it work, and it all comes together. Since it is the first day of school, she decided to keep it pretty classy with patchwork light wash jean jacket, a cropped grey tee shirt and some black jeans with bright pink converse for some sort of color. She got dressed and straightened her hair, put a little bit of makeup on and did a once over in the mirror before grabbing a shirt for her sister to wear and making her way to her sister Devons room. As Kenzie walked through the hallway of their small apartment that McKenzie, Devon, and their dad shared she felt the warm sunlight filtering through the windows. Once she made it to the door, she knocked on the old wood and heard Devons voice.
" Come in Kenz I really need your help." Kenzie could have told anyone this would be the response from Devon, she never planned her outfits ahead of time and didn't really care but since it was the first day she would want to look nice. So, this is where the shirt she picked up came in handy. As Kenzie made her way into her sister's perfectly clean room, she laid the top down on the bed while watching Devon curl her hair.
"I brought you one of my shirts since I knew you would hate everything in your closet you always do if you want to look nice, and I would suggest wearing jeans and some nice shoes, so you make the impression of I'm chill but still look nice you know." Kenzie said while she pulled a pair of Devons Jeans out of her drawer and laid them next to the shirt. Devon just sat in awe she always wondered why McKenzie was so good with clothes and makeup, their mom had died when the girls were just ten and she didn't have a chance to teach them much about that sort of thing, so Devon was lucky Kenzie had taken it into her own hands to learn how to dress and such. the girls dad was never really around after their mother passed he spent all his time and energy at the hospitail where he workedd he was a shift nurse and really didnt make that much money
"Thank you so much Kenz what would I do without you, and can you curl my hair this thing just isn't working." Devon said to the girl who was just sitting on the edge of the bed waiting for the thanks. Kenzie made her way over to Devon to start curling her hair while Devon did her own makeup. After about thirty minutes the girls were ready Devon wearing the outfit Kenzie had picked for her. They both walked down the hallway to the kitchen their dad must had been working an overnight shit that day because there was a not on the counter and no food being made so the girls got straight to work while talking about the upcoming year.
" So what classes are you excited for I hope they put me into advanced art lats years class was so easy, but they wouldn't put in advanced since I was too young which is stupid if you ask me." Kenzie told her sister as she mixed up some pancake batter in a small yellow bowl with just enough for Devon and Herself.
"I don't know what classes I want just as long as we have some together and they let me practice our work for debate because if we want to compete with high school this year, we are really going to have to work for it. Don't forget about tryouts for that tonight. you know you could also be excited because you could meet a boy to" Devon responded to her sister pouring the batter onto the pan. out of the many things Devon and McKenzie didn't have in common one thing was debate they were both very hardcore and sometimes a little to passionate, but most debate teachers liked that in the girls, so they hope to make the high school team this year even though they are 8th graders. and the last thing Devon said slightly shocked the girl to be honest she hadn't even thought about boys, but you never know. The girls finished making and eating their breakfast and grabbed their bags and made their way out the door and towards the bus stop they didn't exactly like riding the bus, but it got them there so they couldn't complain. McKenzie prepared herself for the upcoming year, but she had no idea what this year would bring her.
Hey Yall so first chapter done and its lowkey bad but we will get into some good stuff soon trust but most of the ant and kenz stuff will be later since i want her to join cobra kai and stuff and they don't really interact much before season six but after the all valley and a few other times so yea it will get better if you have any suggestions tell me and yeah bye love yall.
