Young ambition
Say we'll go slow but we never do
Premonition
See me spendin' every night with you
The rain had started softly, a hesitant drizzle as if unsure of its arrival. By the time Taesan and Leehan slipped out of the crowded house party, it had grown into a steady, rhythmic patter, painting the street in glistening reflections of the neon signs and warm golden lights spilling from the windows.
Leehan had followed Taesan outside almost instinctively, needing a breath of fresh air after the stifling heat of the party. Now, as the rain kissed his skin and dampened his hoodie, he realized he might have underestimated just how cold it was.
Taesan leaned against the lamppost a few steps ahead, his silhouette sharp against the dim glow of the streetlight. His black shirt clung to his frame, rain-soaked and effortlessly cool, while his wet hair dripped small rivulets down his sharp jawline.
"What're you staring at?" Taesan asked, his voice teasing as he turned, catching Leehan mid-thought.
"N-nothing," Leehan stammered, shoving his hands into his hoodie pockets. "Just... wondering why you dragged me out here."
Taesan smirked, the corners of his lips curling into something playful yet undeniably dangerous. He stepped closer, the sound of his boots muffled by the rain. "I didn't drag you out. You followed me."
Leehan's cheeks heated, though the chill of the rain quickly masked it. "Whatever. It's freezing."
"You'll warm up," Taesan said nonchalantly. Then, as if struck by a sudden idea, his eyes lit up. "Actually, I know the perfect way to do that."
Leehan raised an eyebrow, wary. "What are you—"
"Dance with me."
The words hung in the air for a beat, Leehan blinking as if unsure he'd heard right. The faint strains of music from the house still carried over the rain, a lazy melody that seemed completely at odds with the situation.
"Here?" Leehan asked incredulously, gesturing to the wet pavement around them.
"Why not?" Taesan extended a hand, his smirk softening into something almost... inviting. "C'mon. You're always so stiff. Loosen up."
"I'm not stiff," Leehan grumbled, crossing his arms defensively.
"Prove it."
Leehan hesitated, his gaze darting between Taesan's outstretched hand and the playful challenge in his eyes. He knew he'd regret this—Taesan had a way of pulling him into the most ridiculous situations—but something about the moment felt oddly magnetic.
Finally, with a resigned sigh, Leehan stepped forward and placed his hand in Taesan's.
"Good choice," Taesan murmured, his fingers curling firmly around Leehan's.
He pulled Leehan closer, their bodies almost touching as he began to sway to the faint rhythm. Leehan stumbled at first, unused to the proximity, but Taesan's hand on his waist steadied him.
"This is ridiculous," Leehan muttered, though the hint of a smile tugged at his lips.
"Ridiculously fun," Taesan corrected, his voice low and smooth.
The rain continued to fall, soaking through their clothes and plastering Leehan's hair to his forehead. But Taesan didn't seem to notice—or care. He spun Leehan unexpectedly, earning a startled laugh as the younger nearly slipped on the wet pavement.
"Careful!" Leehan yelped, clutching at Taesan's arm for balance.
"Relax," Taesan said, his voice warm with laughter. "I've got you."
The song from inside shifted to something slower, the bass deep and sultry. Taesan's movements followed suit, his steps deliberate as he guided Leehan closer. The air between them seemed to hum, the world narrowing to just the two of them beneath the rain-soaked sky.
"See? You're not so bad at this," Taesan murmured, his lips curving into a smile that sent a flutter through Leehan's chest.
Leehan tried to focus on the dance, but his eyes kept drifting to Taesan's face—the way the raindrops clung to his lashes, the sharp line of his jaw, the easy confidence in his expression.
"You're staring again," Taesan teased, his voice a soft rumble.
Leehan's cheeks flushed, and he looked away quickly. "Am not."
"Liar," Taesan said, his tone playful but with an edge of something deeper.
Before Leehan could respond, Taesan stopped moving, his hand on Leehan's waist pulling him impossibly closer. Their breaths mingled, warm in the cool rain.
"Leehan," Taesan said softly, his voice barely audible over the rain.
Leehan looked up, his heart pounding as he met Taesan's gaze. The usual teasing spark in his eyes had softened into something that made Leehan's breath hitch.
"Yeah?" Leehan whispered.
Taesan's hand cupped Leehan's cheek, his thumb brushing away a stray raindrop. His smile turned almost shy—a rare look for someone as bold as him.
"You're cute when you're flustered," he murmured, his lips quirking slightly before he leaned in, closing the distance between them.
The kiss was warm, despite the chill of the rain. It was soft and unhurried, the kind of kiss that made time feel irrelevant. Leehan's hands found their way to Taesan's shoulders, clutching the damp fabric as if to anchor himself.
When they finally pulled away, their foreheads rested together, their breaths mingling in the cool night air.
"That was... unexpected," Leehan said, his voice barely above a whisper.
"Was it?" Taesan grinned, his thumb still brushing gentle circles against Leehan's cheek. "I've been waiting for an excuse to do that."
Leehan's lips curved into a small smile, his shyness giving way to something bolder. "Guess I'm not so stiff after all."
Taesan laughed, the sound warm and genuine. "Guess not."
The rain continued to fall, but neither of them moved. The world around them faded, leaving only the rhythm of their hearts and the gentle sway of their bodies in the rain.
