Better Aim
Ana's POV
It's been a few days since our warning, no signs of the other group. We've been gearing up with weapons and ammo to fight against this group. Away from the violence, Carl and I have been getting closer and closer every day. We are almost inseparable.
Today, Rick thought it would be a good idea to have some aim practice. He gathered a bunch of soda, soup, and fruit cans and took a group of us down to the wooded area. He placed a couple cans close to us, and some far away, and some in the middle. I was the first one up because I was the youngest. I grabbed my gun, which apparently too big for my hands because Rick took it and gave me a smaller one. I stood with my feet shoulder-length apart, one eye closed, and aimed for the soda can the farthest away. And I pulled the trigger, hitting the can right in the center.
Myself already feeling accomplished, everyone congratulated me, and others spoke beginners luck, which I never believed in. I always believed that everything happens for a reason. I also believe that Rick and his people found Daniel and I for a reason. A reason I am thankful for.
Next up was Carl. He grabbed his gun and shot at the can, hitting it in the top portion. Daniel then stepped up. He eyed his target for a few seconds then positioned himself. He pulled the trigger and just hit it with enough power to knock it down. He didn't make a dent on the can, bummer. "You'll do better next round!" I heard Carol say.
It was now Maggie's turn. "Alright. Maggie and Glenn's up." Rick says "And then its me and Daryl." They all had taken there shots, some only missing once. Then it was Michonne and Sasha's turn, which ended pretty badly when Sasha went overboard and hit more than one.
Abraham, Tara, and Rosita finally joined us and took their shots. Then we all did one more round. I nailed both rounds, thankfully. The sun was starting to go down, then someone had the bright idea to watch the sun go down. That someone being me, fortunately everyone agreed.
We all made it back to the walls, and put all our weapons away. By that time, the sun was setting. Everyone seemed to enjoy it. It really took some pressure off of us, means we are about to have a war with another group.
Carl and I decided to stay out a bit longer, just walking around. "Can I ask you something?" Carl said. He sounded like something was on his mind. "Sure thing!" I replied, wondering what he was thinking about. "We've gotten really close these past few days, I was wondering-" the big question I was waiting for, "If you'd like to, uh, be my... girlfriend?" Finally. Ever since I saw him, I liked him. "Yes! I'd love to!" He grabbed my waist and pulled me into a hug. "Glad to hear that, I was scared to ask..." he faded out. "Ive been waiting for that question to come up to be honest."I said, to reassure him. "Really?"
"Yup."
