Founders Day

A Week Later:

Arishira's POV:

"Great job, everyone!" Our sensei exclaimed with a proud smile as we all bowed in gratitude. "Thank you, sensei!"

Our teacher had to leave because the faculty members were part of the program and would be giving speeches soon.

The booths were already set up outside, showcasing displays from various classes.

It was the first day of Founders Day, and a parade was scheduled for later. I couldn’t wait to explore the other booths. I hoped they would have some delicious food and fun souvenirs for sale.

Osamu and I had already planned to visit a few booths together. With sports day happening tomorrow, I was relieved that he had some free time today.

Students were allowed to visit booths other than their own, and I was thrilled to explore the festivities with him.

Osamu told me to wait outside the school gate. As I stood there, I checked my phone to see if I had received a message from him, but there was nothing. So, I decided to text him first.

arishiraaa_haruki: osamuuuuuuuu

arishiraaa_haruki: where r u?

m.osamu: almost there.

m.osamu: wait

I smiled at his last message and stood at the gate, waiting for him.

I never knew Osamu had a soft spot. He was always stoic and serious around others. Maybe his soft spot was only for me? If that were true, I would feel incredibly lucky.

I saw a car pulling up in front of the gate and spotted Osamu getting out. It was Atsumu who had driven him, and the car quickly dashed away to find a parking spot.

Osamu was wearing his school uniform and carrying a gym bag. He walked toward me, and I couldn't help but smile.

"Osamu!" I called out as he stood in front of me, and I hugged him tightly.

"Hey—" Osamu's reaction made me chuckle as he wrapped his arms around me in return.

Once we entered the campus, we started to look for interesting booths. One booth caught my eye, and it seemed to be a game booth with a giant teddy bear as a prize.

"Osamu!" I shouted, dragging him toward the booth. A few students welcomed us and explained the rules of the game.

"All you have to do is smack all the bottles using a ball that you'll be provided. You only have three tries," one of the students instructed. I handed them the exact amount of money for three tries.

I grabbed one of the balls and concentrated, hoping to at least knock down some bottles.

Shoot!

I threw the ball, and it landed on the student instead! Luckily, she caught it just before it hit her face. I was so embarrassed.

"Uh, Osamu, let's go and find another boo—" I started to say, but he grabbed one of the balls. Was he planning to win the prize?

He threw the ball, and...boom!

The ball hit the bottles perfectly, sending them crashing to the ground. The students and I were in shock. Silence fell for a moment before the girl exclaimed, "C-congratulations!" She handed me the prize: a giant teddy bear!

I squealed with excitement, but I felt like Osamu deserved the prize for his amazing throw.

"You can have the bear. I mean, you won it anyway," I said casually.

"We can have it," Osamu replied, his words making me smile. "We?" That sounded like a great idea!

We decided to head to the gym to drop off the teddy bear since it was so large and heavy. After putting it down, we would continue exploring the other booths.

Once we arrived at the gym, Osamu placed the giant teddy bear on a bench while his teammates were sitting around, using their phones instead of practicing.

After dropping off the bear, I turned to Osamu. "Don't you guys have volleyball practice?"

"Tonight," he replied nonchalantly, and I nodded as we walked outside together.

As we strolled, I noticed that the classrooms in Class 2 had their lights turned off. My curiosity piqued, and I felt a shiver of suspicion.

Suddenly, two men appeared from behind a corner, grabbing both Osamu and me!

"HEY!" I shouted, panic rising within me. I was scared—what were they planning to do?

They stopped in front of a classroom and handcuffed us! My left arm was cuffed to Osamu's right arm. We were basically stuck together. WHAT THE HECK?!

The two men dragged us inside a dark classroom, locking the door behind them.

"HEY! GET BACK HERE!" I yelled, but realized I was still handcuffed to Osamu.

The classroom was dark, with curtains drawn tightly. I could feel the chill of the air conditioning; at least it was comfortable. I peeked through the curtains and caught a glimpse of students enjoying the festivities outside.

"We're stuck," Osamu mumbled, his deadpan voice cutting through the tension.

"Obviously," I replied, my irritation bubbling beneath the surface.

I couldn't help but think about how inconvenient this was. Whoever set this up had chosen a jail booth instead of something fun! I would have enjoyed a wedding booth, but this? No, thank you.

My worry eased a bit with the realization that at least there was an air conditioner. I wouldn’t have to worry about overheating.

"So what now?" Osamu sighed, his expression still serious.

"This must be a jail booth," I explained, trying to maintain my composure. "There must be a time limit—like how many minutes or hours we’ll be stuck here."

I opened the curtains slightly to see the sunlight outside. This classroom was empty, with chairs pushed into corners. Osamu and I were tucked away behind a wall.

"Hours? You've got to be kidding," Osamu said sarcastically, maintaining his stoic demeanor.

"It depends on the person who put us here. It depends on the payment," I continued. "And I swear if I find out who did this…"

My irritation was growing. I really wanted to be outside enjoying the parade, not stuck in a dark classroom with handcuffs.

I glanced at the timer on the wall. It read 10 minutes and 48 seconds and was counting down. Could it be? We had 10 minutes left in this classroom?

I looked at Osamu and pointed at the timer. He seemed shocked.

"So what are we going to do with the 10 minutes remaining?" Osamu asked, glancing around as if searching for a solution.

I raised an eyebrow. "I don't know."

I genuinely didn’t know what we could do.

I closed my eyes, trying to think when suddenly Osamu wrapped his arms around me with his left hand and pulled me onto his lap.

What was happening?

I had to admit, sitting on his lap was surprisingly comforting.

I began to speak, my voice shaky. "What... do you need anything, Osamu?"

A small, subtle smirk appeared on his face, a hint of determination shining in his eyes. "I need you, yes."

I looked away, my cheeks heating up. Argh, I didn't want to get caught in this moment!

He gestured for me to get off his lap, so I did, sitting beside him. I leaned my head against his shoulder, feeling a sense of safety. It seemed like he understood; he didn’t want to get caught either.

CLICK.

I jolted awake when I heard the door unlocking. I glanced at the timer and realized the ten minutes were over. I must have taken a nap. I turned to look at Osamu, who was still asleep.

The door swung open, and both Osamu and I stood up, stretching our limbs. The two men who had handcuffed us walked toward us and released the cuffs. Finally!

But I noticed a familiar figure behind the two men. As Osamu and I stepped outside, I saw that it was…

HIIRO!!

"Surprise," he said with a laugh. I had assumed it was Kira who planned this, but Hiiro? Really?

In a fit of frustration, I took off my school shoes and threw them in the air. Hiiro dodged them effortlessly.

"HIIROOOOOOO! YOU BITCH!!!!"
