Chapter Five: Smosh Games

As soon as I got home last night I read the contract about three times before I signed it. This job seems like a dream, doing what I'm interested in with people who seem really cool. After i dotted all the i's and crossed all my t's, I was ready to hand in my contract. I emailed Alé and she told me to bring it in at 8am today and she would get me all set up and started for my first day.

I am currently sitting in her office while she reviews my paperwork to ensure nothing was missed. I decided to wear black and white gingham pants with a black hoodie, denim jacket and my converse. Comfy but casual. Based on everyone's outfits yesterday, this seemed appropriate.

"Okay, It looks like everything is in order. So I will need you to download slack onto your phone, it's what we use to communicate with cast and crew. And I will get Erin to give you a tour and show you your desk. I'm really excited to see what you can bring to this company." She smile as she goes for the door.

"Me as well, everyone has been super nice here so far, It's hard not to feel welcomed." I follow her out into the seating area from yesterday and see Erin sitting on her laptop.

"Erin, I'm passing off (Y/N) into your care. If you can show her around and get her settled into her desk that would be appreciated. Have a great first day, and if you need anything I will be in my office." She smiles at me one last time and heads back in the direction we came.

"Hey I love your pants. Are you ready for this grand tour?" I smile and laugh at her description.

"Hell yeah."

"Perfect. Well since we are already here, this is the lunch slash break area. The kitchen is through that door. If you ever bring stuff for lunch or anything, there's the fridge. We almost always have it stocked with snacks and drinks. If you have any requests let me know and I will do my best to get it for ya."

After about 30 minutes of Erin showing me around, we end up in the cubes where the editors for all the channels work. She showed me to a square that had four desks. One of which was being occupied.

"This is Tim, he's an editor for the games channel. You two will work together to make edits, I will leave you with him to explain it from here. I think Alex and Spencer should be along anytime." She reassuringly rubs my back for encouragement. I smile and thank her for the the tour. I take a seat at the desk behind Tim, facing the entrance door.

"So, have you seen any smosh games videos? If not I will send you some to watch before you get started on you first video. The way our editing works is we both work on videos. For example, One video, I will do the main edit and cut it down to the length it needs to be with keeping it funny and entertaining, then you will go through and fine tune anything I may have missed, and vice versa."

(I know this probably isn't how they actually edit they're video's but it's the best I could come up with. And I am also not sure who the actual editors for any of the channels are so I just picked Tim.)

"Sounds simple enough. And no I haven't seen anything if you could send me some to watch." I booted up my computer and used the login that Alé had provided. Tim got onto slack and sent me some of the videos that he thought would be the most helpful in learning.

"Watch those three and then I will send you a video to work on. It may take you a little longer to edit them to start but you will catch on. Honestly, I'm really happy they got another editor, I'm starting to get swamped." He sends me a reassuring smile. I log into Youtube with my personal email and open up slack on the desk top. I click the link for the first video and get watching. I put my headphones on and completely zoned out into the video. The first one was "Gentlemen Play: Don't Win Mario Party."
