I've never been a square. I've never been the cut out shape of a cookie cutter like all those before me. I've always been an outlaw, a misfit, an oval if you will. Maybe that's why I'm alone in this; the time of the  Earth when all seems forsaken and mislead to irreparable misfortune, I sit here hudled under the brush, holding my breath. No daughter of five holding my hand or best friend of seven years by my side. No, not anymore. Just me and the scraping branches of the bush protecting my body from view. My breathing is shallow and unrelenting, heart beating wildly and I can't calm it. It knows the danger. It knows that to breath deeper or to shuffle even one toe, will be the end.

I'm sure you're confused. I'm sure in your time, where you read this, you don't understand. But I will explain to you so that you might avoid the very spot I am in. My name is Syx. I am 25, last I checked. It's the year 2123. The days have run together and I have lost everything I've ever known or made familiarities with. Everything is new and nothing is as it was. The government has taken total control since The Day everything was rewritten. They told us it was not their fault, that God was angry with us for the way we treated the home he made for us. But that was a lie.

I found out the truth when I was working as Superior Supervisor of The System; I was SSS6. There were five others, but they succumbed to the stories told us, and still work under the watchful eye. I was the only one who could see through the veil they held over us, so I escaped. I am now a wanted fugituve. My face is posted in every last standing civilian area and I'm always being hunted, for the reward to catch me is a new life inside The City, where they've simulated the old life. Everyone would die for it now and admittedly, even mself. I miss my child everyday. Mary was the only light in my life but they took her, and Alice, my best friend,  from me when I wouldn't conform. It was the price I paid for the knowledge I thirsted for. I'll never say I'd take my choices back. Though their lives were taken, they were not destroyed and someday I'll break through the barriers of this new world government and take them back.
