AS CARL and i began to walk towards the prison, i realized that this was really happening, i would have a warm bed to sleep in tonight..

"so, how old are you?" carl asked.

"i'm 15," i said with a smile. "how 'bout you?"

"16." carl stated.

"hm, i guess we're not that far off," i smiled.

__________

we finally arrived at the prison, hiding behind distant trees. "there it is," carl stated.

even though the outside was crawling with walkers, it still felt like it could be a home.

"we'll have to run, but someone's always at the gate." carl said. "you ready?" he asked.

"yeah," i replied.

"alright, come on," carl said as he grabbed my arm and started running to the gate.

as the gate opened, a pretty woman with short, brunette hair, approached us. "my god.." The woman uttered.

"are you two okay? what happened?" the woman worried. she had a strong georgia accent.
i looked down at myself and the crimson blood that covered me, blinded me. i probably looked dead.

"she's okay, a walker almost got her. It's not her blood." carl spoke out. i turned to look at him. if it weren't for him, it would've been.

"rick!" the woman called out. "someone get rick!"

shortly after, a tall man with dark, curly hair and a beard approached us. he held his hand on the gun that rested in it's holster.

"carl.." rick started, "what happened.? who is this.?"

"i know you don't want me going in the woods but a walker was attacking her, i couldn't just leave." he stated.

rick paused before looking me up and down.

rick began to ask, "how many walkers have you kill-"

"i already asked her, dad." carl announced.

rick glared at carl, ignoring him. "how many walkers have you killed?"

"too many, i couldn't tell you." i answered.

"how many people have you killed?" he interrogated.
