The hours stretched on, and I kept telling myself Sabrina was fine. She said she was meeting Val, and I trusted her to take care of herself.

Still, it was unlike her not to call or text, even just to check in. I glanced at the clock again.

Late afternoon. She'd been gone way longer than I was comfortable with.

Pulling my phone out of my pocket, I dialed her number. It rang once before going straight to voicemail.

That was odd. Maybe her phone died. Or maybe she was busy. I tried not to overthink it, but something about the silence gnawed at me.

I called Matteo instead. He'd know what was going on.

Matteo picked up after the second ring. "Julian?"

"Yeah, hey," I said, my voice tight. "Do you know when Sabrina and Val are planning to get back? I haven't heard from Sabrina since she left."

There was a pause. Matteo's tone shifted, laced with confusion. "What are you talking about? Val's sitting right next to me."

My stomach dropped. I shot up from the couch, my heart racing. "What?"

Matteo repeated himself, slower this time. "Val hasn't gone anywhere today, Julian. She's been here the whole time."

"Fuck," I hissed, raking a hand through my hair. My mind was spinning, trying to piece together what the hell was going on. Sabrina said she was meeting Val.

If Val was with Matteo, then where the hell was Sabrina?

"Matteo," I said sharply, pacing now, "get Val and meet me at the warehouse. Now."

"Julian, what's going on?" Matteo pressed, his tone growing serious.

"I don't know yet," I snapped, frustration and worry bubbling over. "But Sabrina's not with Val, and she's not answering her phone. Something's wrong."

"Shit," Matteo muttered. "We'll be there in twenty."

The call ended, and I shoved my phone into my pocket. My fists clenched at my sides as I tried to push down the panic creeping into my chest.

Sabrina wasn't reckless. She wouldn't just disappear without a word.

Grabbing my keys, I headed for the car, my jaw tight and my mind racing. Wherever she was, I was going to find her.

At the warehouse, tension filled the air as Matteo and Val walked in. Val looked confused, while Matteo wore his usual stoic expression, though there was a flicker of concern in his eyes.

"What's going on?" Matteo asked, crossing his arms.

I didn't waste time. "When Sabrina and I got back today, she said you," I pointed at Val, "texted her to meet up. She left hours ago. I haven't heard from her since. I called her, and it went straight to voicemail. I called you, thinking you'd know something, but Val's been with you the whole time."
