Evelyn's POV:

It had been such a long time since I had shared a night as magical as the one I experienced last night. Tiana and her wife had brought a spark back into my life that I thought had flickered out. As the morning sun streamed through the curtains, casting a warm glow over the room, I lay there basking in the afterglow.

In the midst of our lazy morning chatter, my tranquility was abruptly interrupted by the shrill ringing of my phone. Reluctantly, I tore myself away from the comfort of the bed and shuffled into the bathroom to answer the call, noting that it was one of my colleagues, Anna, on the line.

"Ms. Hart?" Anna's voice cut through the peaceful silence.

"Yes, Anna," I replied, still trying to shake off the remnants of sleep that clung to me like a stubborn fog.

"I think we've made a breakthrough in the case. We've identified the victim and possibly the murderer," Anna continued, a sense of urgency coloring her tone.

Intrigued, I encouraged her to divulge more details. She informed me that the body belonged to Beverly Montez, a young woman who worked at the store adjacent to Vons café. More astonishingly, the DNA from a hair strand found at the scene did not match that of the victim, indicating a potential female perpetrator, possibly in her late 40s.

As I absorbed this revelation, a sense of unease crept over me. A female culprit was an unexpected twist in the narrative of a crime so close to home. I thanked Anna for the update before ending the call, my mind already racing with possibilities and suspicions.
Could it be someone close to Beverly, driven by jealousy or malice? Or perhaps a stranger with a hidden agenda? The pieces of the puzzle were scattered before me, waiting to be put together to form a coherent picture of the truth.

Despite the gravity of the situation, I made a conscious decision to set aside the dark shadows of reality for now and immerse myself in the present moment. I wanted to cherish the sensual connection I had forged with Tiana and her wife, savoring every moment of the intimacy and passion we shared.

We have made progress in the case, but it is crucial that we push for more. It is imperative to gather more information as assumptions are not enough to lead us in the right direction.

Beginning with the labs is a good start, but we must explore all avenues available to us. Discovering that the suspect is likely female further complicates our search, especially considering the only physical evidence left behind is a single hair strand.

We need more.I need more.
