⚠ Trigger Warning: Self harm ⚠
The next morning I awoke to a loud bang and the sound of broken glass. I ran into the bathroom to see what was causing all the dramatic commotion. As I ran into the hallway, I heard crying and it sounded like Grace. I sat on the ground next to Grace as I watched blood stream from her wrist.
"Grace Anne Helbig, what the fuck is going on? Talk to me please!" I grabbed a towel and started wrapping her wrist with it.
"MAMRIE CALL 911!" I screamed hoping I'd wake Mamrie, who was sleeping on the couch, up.
I picked up Grace with my skinny little arms and brought her into her bedroom where I gently placed her on her bed.
"Grace, please stay with me. I can't lose you." I began to hear Mamrie run up the steps.
"Shit." She said and ran to the house phone to call 911.
"I'm not leaving your side until they get here. I promise." I said with tears in my eyes. I thought I was going to lose the love of my life. My best friend. My everything.
"Grace, stay awake. Can you hear me? I asked
She shook her head and began to look around the room in confusion. She seemed unconscious but with a sense of where she was.
Once the ambulance arrived, I made sure Grace was as comfortable as she could be before I allowes them to drive off. "I'll be at the hospital soon Grace. I love you. " I kissed her on the forehead and as I was pulling away to leave the ambulance, she grabbed me and pulled me close.
"I-I love you too." She whispered, letting go.The driver hurried me off the back of the ambulance and I just stood there watching the lights flash and hearing the sirens roar. Once the ambulance was out of sight, I walked back inside and plop on the couch was tears rolling down my face. The world felt still. I was dizzy. I am pretty sure I was having a panic attack so I went upstairs, bringing Mamrie with me, and we laid down on the bed while we waited for the phone call to go see Grace.
