The turbulent wind carried specks of dust, swirling wildly as it brushed against Jungkook’s pale forehead and the hair scattered around it. Gusts from the north were rushing into the car through the open window. The air felt pleasantly cool, refreshing his body but leaving him slightly chilled. He turned his head to look at the dark sky blanketed with ominous clouds. It seemed like rain was imminent, and the fierce wind was announcing its arrival across nature.

Turning back, he glanced at Taehyung, whose face was buried against his shoulder. He couldn't see Taehyung’s face clearly because of how snugly he had nestled against him. Was he asleep? If he was truly asleep, this might be the perfect time to admire that heartbreakingly handsome face.

When Taehyung was awake, Jungkook never had the courage to stare directly at him. Just the thought of looking into his piercing eyes made his insides tremble. But the temptation to see that face up close was too strong to resist now.

Frustrated that he still couldn't see Taehyung’s face, Jungkook tilted his head further. Taehyung’s face was almost completely hidden against his neck. When he leaned closer for another try, his chin accidentally brushed against Taehyung’s cheek. Instantly, a strong hand gripped Jungkook’s wrist. Startled, he pulled back, directing his gaze to where Taehyung’s hand held his own.

The man wasn’t asleep.

In a sleep-laden voice, Taehyung asked without lifting his head, “What were you trying to do? Were you planning to steal a kiss, huh? If you’re going to kiss me, at least have the decency to do it while looking into my eyes. Don’t rob me of my dignity in my sleep, you little thief.”

Jungkook’s face flushed a deep shade of crimson. Kissing? Why did Taehyung’s thoughts always circle back to kissing? And stealing his dignity? How could he even suggest that? Taehyung’s dignity was tied to him for life. But he couldn’t say all that aloud. Instead, he deflected, “Mom asked you to go inside the house.”

Taehyung finally lifted his face from Jungkook’s shoulder and sat upright, his crimson-rimmed eyes a clear indication of his exhaustion. His face looked leaner, his features sharper. Was he overworked? His tired eyes betrayed his long nights and grueling days.

“Why are you dodging my question?” Taehyung raised a brow. “What were you looking at on my face?”

“I was c-checking if y-you were asleep!” Jungkook stammered.

“That’s it? Nothing else?” Taehyung tilted his head back against the seat with a sigh, his voice heavy with disappointment.

“What else would I want?”

“There are plenty of things you could want,” Taehyung countered, his voice playful now. “Like giving your sleeping husband a kiss. You know, something um romantic.”

Jungkook froze, his face heating up at Taehyung’s words. His audacity knew no bounds. The words pierced Jungkook’s heart, not with pain but with a strange melody that echoed in his chest. Desperate to change the topic, he muttered, “Aren’t you going inside?”

“I will. If you give me a kiss. Otherwise, I’m not moving an inch.”

Jungkook was flustered beyond measure at Taehyung’s bold and shameless demand. Gathering what little courage he had, he whispered, “Didn’t you get one earlier?”

“That doesn’t count,” Taehyung replied smoothly. “That was me kissing you, not the other way around. Can’t my little wife show his husband a little love? Don’t you have feelings for me at all, Jungkookie? You’re behaving like a shy little boy who avoids his husband. What did I get myself into, marrying a child bride who won’t even kiss me?”
