On the same evening of the council party in Piltover, the firelights were having a peaceful day in the undercity.
One of them had more on his plate than the others. Ever since throwing the Z-Drive, his old time travel machine at Viktor and Jayce, Ekko had been experimenting with a new device similar to the stroke of genius he had with the last one. With the dangers of the Arcane on his mind, he had not ever activated it to prohibit any disasters. With all the events of the war, Ekko came to the conclusion that he had not only killed Heimerdinger, but that he killed Jayce with the device as well. After all, throwing the Z-Drive caused Jayce to be caught in the crossfire. He couldn't help but feel at fault for Jayce and Heimerdinger's fates. As he tinkered the machine, his mentor's death clouding his thoughts, heavy footsteps pulled him away from his work. He turned around to see his fellow firelight Scar standing behind him.
"Still working on this, huh?" Scar questioned.
"Just in case... if things ever get bad down here again," Ekko replied.
"What if they get better? You could... go see her with it, couldn't you?" Scar hinted.
"I know what you're saying. The answers yes, I've thought of going back to the other timeline," Ekko groans.
"No judgement from me, but... you might not have to. I had some strings pulled for you," Scar stated.
"What... does that mean?" Ekko questioned.
"Do you remember when we talked about her? How you wanted to know what happened? I got the report back from that day like you asked. About that 'closure'... They never found a body," Scar reportedEkko immediately gave Scar his full attention, almost falling over as he approached Scar and grabbing the files.
"Wait... what? Are you telling me that..." Ekko trailed off.
"She might be alive," Scar continued. There were a few things to look at. Vi's statement, the enforcers statement, and the autopsies. No autopsy for Jinx. Ekko read over Vi's statement again, and it matched what she had told him. Reading the enforcers statement, there was some new light shed.
"After examining the scene of the incident, the body of the beast looked to have burns and broken bones from the fall. There was blood further up in the hex gate, most likely from the other individual who fell from the top. It appears that Jinx disintegrated from the detonation-" Ekko paused. "Her bombs didn't disintegrate her the last time she got hit by one. On the bridge when we fought, we both survived. She's alive, Scar," Ekko declared. "But... where?"
"I think you have to do an investigation of our own. Do you think it's necessary to tell her sister?" Scar asked.
"She... should already know?" Ekko revealed. His eyes look down at the signature on the enforcer statement. Caitlyn Kiramman. "But we should still let her know we are going to find her just in case. Thank you so much, Scar."
Scar nodded and took the files back. Ekko headed to leave the hideout, grabbing his hoverboard before making his way towards the exit. He needed to visit the Kiramman mansion. He knew Vi would be willing to help him look.
Ekko rode his hoverboard through Piltover making his way to the Kiramman's mansion. The property was hard to miss with its grand appearance. Ekko arrived pretty quickly to his destination. He glided over the gate and straight to the front door. Hopping off the board, he knocked three times before anyone came to the door. When the door opened, it was not who Ekko expected to see. Caitlyn's father Tobias gasped when he saw Ekko.
"Another one of my daughter's friends?" Tobias asked."Vi's, actually. I was wondering if she was around?" Ekko questioned.
"Caitlyn said something about a party in the council room. Should find the two of them there. Inseparable these days, those two," Tobias muttered.
