Childhood
The sweetest time of life itself,
A carefree world that creates memories—
Unfading, unerasable.
Yet, we can't remain children forever.
Change and growth define human nature,
But I despise growing up.

I never wanted to lose my carefree soul,
Yet responsibility crept in,
Slowly stealing the child in me.
I envied those my age,
Living free, untouched by stress,
Enjoying life as I could not.
I envied the children playing around,
I envied childhood itself.

Why must I grow up?
Why can’t I remain a child forever?
Why must maturity and responsibility
Replace the innocence I once had?
Why can’t I return to my childhood?
These questions lingered,
As silent tears fell.

I miss my childhood, my carefree soul.
It slipped away in the blink of an eye.
Now, as a teenager,
I fear the passing of time,
Afraid of growing older.
I wish I could be a child forever.

Childhood is the only time
I long to return to—
But I can't.
Yet, the rollercoaster of memories
Take me back,
Keeping the child in me alive.
