Kashvi's POV~

My voice cracked on the last words, the grief and confusion swallowing me whole.

But the video, the note... They painted a different picture—one I wasn’t ready to see.

My hands trembling as I tried to hold myself together. But my heart... my heart felt like it was breaking in two.

He couldn’t have killed them.

But what if he was? The thought left me breathless, shaking, as I slid down the wall to the floor.

As I sat on the floor, still reeling from the video and the cruel message that accompanied it, I heard the familiar sound of the door opening.

He was here. He was home. And I had no idea how to face him, or what to even say.

I barely had time before he appeared in the doorway.

His gaze flickered to my phone. The video still played on the screen. His face tightened, jaw clenching as his fists curled at his sides.

My throat was tight, and my voice wouldn’t come. All I could do was stare at the screen, still unable to wrap my mind around what I had just seen.

He stepped forward, his expression shifting into something darker as he grabbed my phone from the floor, shutting the video off with a swift motion.

I couldn’t tear my gaze away from him. My heart was racing, pounding in my chest like it was about to explode.

“You killed them,” I whispered, my voice barely audible. The words felt like poison on my tongue, but they were out before I could stop them. The weight of them was suffocating.

His eyes darkened, but there was something else in them—pain, regret, maybe even a hint of fear. But it was buried under layers of coldness, too well hidden for me to truly understand.

“You don’t know what you're talking about,” he said, his tone now softer, though it still held a dangerous edge.

“Then tell me what I’m seeing?” I asked, my voice shaking with a mixture of anger and hurt. “What is this?”

He clenched his jaw, taking a step back as if the question was too much for him to answer.

“Yes, I am responsible. I’m the reason.” he said slowly, almost painfully.

I felt the room spin around me, the weight of his words hitting me like a slap to the face. He was responsible?

“What do you mean by that?” I choked out, standing up shakily. “What do you mean? How could you be responsible for this?”

He closed his eyes for a brief moment, like he was struggling with something inside of him. When he opened them again, there was a storm in his gaze, and the pain was raw, visible.

“I’m not the one who killed them, but I put them in harm’s way,” he said, his voice tight, almost strangled. “I made sure they paid for what they did to you. But before I did, before I kill—.”

I shook my head, tears stinging my eyes once more. “They were my family! My parents—they—they tortured me! They treated me like a burden! But it doesn’t mean you could take their lives away!”

I stumbled backward, shaking my head as I backed into the wall.

“Will you kill anyone who dares to touch me? Hurt me?” I asked, the words barely escaping my trembling lips.
