[A/N: short-ish one, i just wanted to write them to this song cause it's so them it's crazy

might be a longer one coming, not sure how it'll turn out yet

like there soo many good lines to use it's insane how well this song fits them

my top five taylor songs that i think fit them the most in the end notes because they make me insane

i think there were more people there but i've limited it to just harry, chris, arthur (tv), george and reev (even though there's not a tag for him sorry bestie) cause i saw more people in the background but idk who it is lol]

Chris trailed behind the group, his gaze often drifting to Harry who was talking casually with Reev and George. He found himself staring at Harry a lot in groups of people, almost as if his eyes didn't want to look at anything else. Harry would occasionally look back to Chris as well, giving him a small smile which was returned.

Arthur slowed ahead, falling back to match Chris' pace. Beside him, Arthur let out a small laugh. "You're staring again."

Chris laughs. "Yeah, I know. It's awful, but it's like I can't look away."

"You two seem really happy." Arthur says. "I'm assuming everything is going well with you two?"

Chris smiled softly, looking down at his boots. "Yeah, it is good. Really good." He paused, then added, "It's just different, you know? In a good way. But different."

Arthur gives a hum of understanding. "Like everything has fallen into place?" He questions.

Chris thinks for a moment, even though he already knows the answer. "Yeah, I mean, we've known each other for so long. It's like," He hesitated, searching for the right words. His gaze drifted to Harry up ahead again. "It's like I used to see him in black and white, and now I see him in color. But it's the same person, just...clearer. I knew him well beforehand, but everything about him - about us - now makes sense."

Arthur is quiet for a few seconds. "That sounds like that one Taylor Swift song you showed me."

Chris lets out a mix of a laugh and a groan, feeling like his secret had been exposed. "It is, but she words it so well! It's exactly how I feel. I don't know how she does it. Sometimes, though," Chris pauses, thinking of the best way to word this. "It scares me how good it is. It feels so easy, too easy. Sometimes it feels like I'm waiting for something awful to happen."

Arthur gives another understanding hum. "I think that's how you know it's real, though. When you're scared of how good it is. In my opinion, love is supposed to be easy. It's not supposed to have obstacles. It's good that you're scared some might come, and not that there's any now."

Chris feels a wave of reassurance at Arthur's words. "That makes sense, yeah."

They fall into a comfortable silence for a few minutes.

Ahead, Harry turned, his eyes meeting Chris's with a quiet question. His smile widened, that same easy, open expression that makes Chris feel like he's home.

"You okay back there?" Harry called.

Chris felt his heart swell, his chest tightening with that familiar feeling of love that had become a constant companion. He nodded. "Yeah, I'm fine. Just trying to keep up with your long legs." He teases.

Harry laughed and turned back to Reev and George, resuming his conversation, but not before Chris caught the glance he threw over his shoulder, a glance that said more than any words could. He loves moments like this, when he's behind and Harry turns to look back at him. It shows him that Harry is thinking about him, and he feels so loved whenever it happens. He hopes there's never a universe where Harry doesn't look back at him.
