A Knotted Rope

They don't see the rope being tugged. There's a big knot there. Too big to properly cut, but the mindless scissors cause damage. Fixable damage, but not for long. A new rope is slowly being threaded from the attempts at untying the knot. Due to the knots position, the short half is locked out and alone. The short half is giving up, too tired from the knot, while the long half has adapted to their new link. Though still untying, it feels sloppy, a wedge is between the two halves. The rope has fallen into a lake, the water causing the full image to be distorted, too far in to fully tell the truth of the rope, only the passerby's can glance and guess. The short half watches the long, somewhat saddened, but glad to see the new bond. The new rope. The short half has found a way to cut out the knot, to fix it, but that would fully cut the rope away. The short feels like it's what should be done, what will make everyone else happy, but the rope is a lifeline, without it, the half will fall. Would falling be that bad if they could be the cause for such a new, pure rope?
