Why, fucking why. Why did I have to care about this weak stomached normal man? I told myself I didn't give a shit, but when he'd been kidnapped, there'd been a flicker of fear in my stomach.
And seeing him chained up like that...fuck. My hysteria had almost been real.
"Could you give me a hand with him?" I asked Drew when we got home. I was strong, but not strong enough to lift Travis. He nodded, coming around to help me.
Between the two of us, we managed to get Travis inside and into his room. He seemed out of it like he was still suffering from whatever Jason had used to knock him out, so Drew helped me get Travis into bed. Once he was lying down, I told Drew he could leave us alone and watched as he left. Then I turned to Travis.
"Taylor?" He mumbled.
"You're home." I murmured as I reached down and took off his shoes for him before tucking the blankets up.
"Oh okay." Travis sighed, rubbing his temples. "I feel weird."
"Yeah, but don't worry I did a quick check and there's nothing in your blood, so you'll just have to sleep it off." I told him.
"You a fucking doctor or something?"
"No." I laughed at that. "Just used to poison being thrown around."
"God every day I regret signing that contract." Travis peeked through his eyelids at me. "But not really. I don't actually know."
"Yeah, that's great." I patted his arm. "Go to sleep."
"Wait." Travis caught my hand as I tried to get up. "You're not staying?"
"Uhh, no?" I frowned.
"Please." Travis whispered. "I don't want to be alone right now. Just stay until I fall asleep?"
I almost groaned at him. Sure I cared a little, but I didn't really want to climb into bed and snuggle the guy to sleep. That was far too cutesy for me. I would really rather poison myself.
"You know, I got a lot of work to do." I tried to make up an excuse, but Travis wouldn't let go of my hand. "I know I'm your wife and all but we're not actually...oh okay." I cut myself off as Travis yanked me down into bed with him, pinning me there. He was about as strong as I was and I could have pried myself free, but I didn't. "You're just a giant teddy bear aren't you?" I mumbled where I was trapped in Travis' arms, his face tucked into my neck.
"You're so crabby all the time." He mumbled. "I know you're not cold and unfeeling. You have a heart in there somewhere and I'm gonna find it."
"The fuck you are." I elbowed him. "Can't you let me go? I really have things to do."
But Travis didn't respond, and when I managed to get a peek at his face, I saw that he'd fallen asleep. He rolled over a little, really trapping me beneath him. Now I really couldn't get him off me even if I wanted to. I was truly stuck there with a giant teddy bear man cuddling me and I couldn't do shit about it. Fucking great.
"You are such an asshole." I grumbled, but Travis was dead to the world. He practically clung to me and I shifted uncomfortably, not used to being in a position like this. Sex was normal enough, but I up and left right after. None of this cuddling shit. I hated it.
But I was forced to lay there, waiting. Travis slept for about an hour, and I sighed in relief when he eventually shifted in his sleep. I felt his eyelashes tickle my neck when he opened his eyes, letting out a breath.
"You wanna let me go now?" I grumbled, shoving his shoulder.
"Hmm?" Travis sighed.
"You trapped me here." I told him. "Now would be a good time to get the hell off."
