"Honey, there's a call for you!" Martha yelled, calling Wendy downstairs. Wendy came down in her pajamas, a soft skirt and a silk pink shirt. She gently took the phone from her moms outstretched hand and answered.

"Hello?" "Wendy! There's a party at the beach tonight! Im picking you up in two hours, you BETTER be ready." Her best friend Maria. Maria was the first friend she made when she moved over to California. It was something about Maria that just clicked with Wendy. They've been inseparable since.

"Okay, do you want me to bring anything?" "Uhh, probably a beach ball if you have one." Wendy looked around and then responded. "Probably in the garage. I'll see you in two hours. Bye." "See you there."

Wendy hung up and put the phone back right before her mom asked what it was. "There's a get-together at the beach today, Maria's picking me up in two hours." Wendy walked to the kitchen and grabbed a glass.

"Well, be safe honey. I don't want you doing anything you wouldn't do infront of grandma." She followed Wendy to the kitchen, filling up her coffee mug. "Mom, you don't have to worry about me. I'll be safe." The sound of water pouring into her glass filled the room.

———

Two hours passed and a car horn honked outside. Wendy quickly grabbed her bag filled with the essentials, water, sunscreen, and some snacks. As she went downstairs, she kissed her mom on the cheek. "Love you honey." "Love you too mom."

Before leaving, she grabbed the beach ball from the garage and left the house.

Infront of her was her friend Maria in her 1964 Pontiac, roof down as music played from her radio. Wendy smiled as she looked at her, she really had the best friend ever.

Maria looked over and saw Wendy leaving the house, grinning like a little kid with candy before calling her over.

"So, who's gonna be at the party?" Wendy closed the passenger door, buckling into her seat. She looked down at Marias outfit and realized she might've underdressed. Maria had shorts over her one piece bathing suit while Wendy just had on a two piece and a white coverup that went down to her hips.

"Woah Wendy, every guy is gonna be staring at you." Maria roared the engine before driving down the street, leaving The Hills on their way to the beach. "Well I didn't know what to wear." She reached over to the radio and turned on the station that played 60's hits, usually The Beatles or The Beach Boys, but sometimes they'd play The Ronettes.

The Ronettes were Wendys favorite group, her favorite song being 'Be My Baby'. Her luck today must've been amazing, because once she turned on the radio, her song started playing.

"Oo, turn it up, turn it up!" Maria smiled as she watched the road, also loving this song.

The two girls finally reached the beach, by the sound of the music people were definitely there already. Maria took her keys out the ignition and the faint vibration of the car stopped. They both unbuckled their seatbelts and got out the car, grabbing the bags they had.

It had to be around 5, maybe 5:30 when they got there. It's not cause they live far, but because of the two girls going to the completely wrong beach at first. Luckily, the real beach wasn't that far so they drove from there.

"Geez, we need to hurry before the sun goes down. Cmon!" Wendy grabbed Marias hand as they ran down the hill, barefoot as the hot sand burnt their feet. There was two groups, girls and boys. In the girls group, she recognized Ali Mills. How couldn't she?

Ali was every boys dream girl. I mean, who could blame them? She was gorgeous. Her smile, her eyes, even her nose was perfect. Her hair was a nice blonde that everyone wanted. Sometimes looking at Ali would make a girl feel hideous, especially Wendy.
