you weren't supposed to care. you weren't supposed to feel like this. that was part of the rules you both set. no feelings, no strings attached, just an outlet for mutual pleasure through sex. nothing more, nothing less.

the bass of the heavy party house music vibrates through the crowded home, your drink in your hand as you managed through the crowd of busy alcohol-infested people dancing to find him.

you were planning on asking hyunjin to take you home, as he was your ride here and you didn't feel like staying any longer, but after catching sight of him across the room, you didn't really feel like asking anymore.

there he was, your gorgeous best friend, hwang hyunjin, pressed up against a girl you couldn't recognize, their lips locked in a way that made you uncomfortable.

it's not jealousy, you told yourself — it can't be jealousy. that wasn't part of your deal.

but still, you find yourself just standing there, watching with your chest tight. your stomach churned, but it wasn't supposed to hurt like this.

after all, hyunjin was never yours. never was and never will be. and that both hurt and angered you.

but you still couldn't look away.

"hey- [name], you okay?" a voice snapped you out of it. your friend's hand, changbin, rests on your shoulder, his concerned face barely registers in your static-filled mind.

you hadn't even realized a tear fell from your cheek until now, wiping it away before anyone else saw as you nodded, plastering a fake smile as you slipped out of the house.

the cool autumn air hit your face as you began to walk back to your house which was a few blocks away. you tried to shake off the image of hyunjin's hands all over that girl.

deep down, you knew the truth — you weren't angry because he broke any rule, because in all honesty, he didn't.

but you were angry because you wanted to, and most probably already did.

there was no denying that hyunjin was good-looking, because he most definitely is, but after knowing him for as long as you have, having been there to see him during every era he went through, sharing your thoughts, opinions and feelings, and not to mention hanging out almost every day, you were bound to fall for him. you couldn't help your feelings towards him, but you kept them stored deep inside you until you couldn't anymore.

and right now, you couldn't hide your attraction to him at all. not the slightest bit.
