"Okay, you're sure he's doing alright?" Shouta asked into the phone.

"Kid's tougher than we give him credit for. It was an epic takedown! He's a champ! He'll be fine!" Mic said. "I won't be home for a few more hours. I'll bring home food, though. Ask Kayama what she wants and have her text me. I have to go, but let me know if you need anything."

"I will, Love you." Shouta said.

"Love you too!"

Shouta ended the call and sat the phone down on the end table beside the sofa, leaning his head back and closing his eyes for a moment. He was so tired, always tired these days, and his body constantly ached with pain.

"Well?" Kayama asked, walking from the kitchen and stirring her cup of tea.

"Endeavor is signing over custody of the two younger boys to their sister. They are going to stay in the house and he'll move into his agency. Family therapy and supervised visits moving forward. Touya will remain a ward of UA, it's what he wants." Shouta explained.

"And Endeavor keeps his reputation?" She shook her head in dismay.

"At least the kids are safe. Especially the younger one. He'll be in UA in a few years." Shouta said.

"Ok," Kayama sat down her tea. "Now that you are no longer worried about your precious student..."

"I wasn't worried about Touya." Shouta interjected. "Endeavor isn't going to hurt his back-from-the-dead son, at least in front of witnesses...but he could potentially barbeque my husband. Sound waves don't work on fire."

"Please," Kayama waved a hand dismissively. "Yamada is too pretty to burn."

"That's a very illogical argument."

"Tell me how you are doing, Aizawa." Kayama fixed him with a knowing gaze. "Yamada isn't here. It's time for some real talk."

"What does Yamada not being here have to do with anything?"

She snorted. "We both know you would never do anything to cause him undue worry. It's adorably sweet, but you need to talk to somebody and, lets face it, Yamada is always fucking here, lately! So come on, unload. Let's hear it!"

Shouta sighed. "This isn't fair, Kayama." He said finally. "And I feel ridicules saying it because I always lecture my students for using that excuse, but this really isn't fucking fair!"

Kayama reached out a comforting hand, gently rubbing his arm. "It's not, Shouta."

"I'm in pain, all the time. Constant. Everyday there's some new pain...and some new simple tasks that I can't do myself!" He took a breath. "I'm just getting weaker and weaker. The dialysis doesn't seem to make a difference anymore. My vision is shot! I can barely lift a coffee mug! My body can't absorb nutrients on a large scale anymore and my bones are getting brittle!" He pulled up his shirt, revealing his exposed ribs and eliciting a shocked gasp from Kayama. "I'm slowly starving to death! I get extra nutrients through an IV three times a week but I've lost so much weight!" He paused to take another breath. "At our weekly appointment, yesterday, the doctor said that I should be prepared...my teeth may start falling out..."

"Oh, God! Shouta I'm so sorry!" Kayama said, her eyes sparkling but she was holding back tears.

"All this and Yamada has been just so...wonderful." He said, softly, looking down at his hand, which was now absent of his wedding ring. His skin was getting thin and the metal had begun to irritate it. It also kept falling off due to his weight loss, so he started wearing it on a chain around his neck.
