Matty pov

Poor kid. Hes terrified. I don't even want to begin to imagine what he's been through. As soon as he began freaking out when the doctor went to check his wounds I knew. I knew he'd been sexually abused. But I didn't even want to think about to what extent.
I watched over him as he slept due to the heavy dose of pain medication as well as something to calm him. He looked so small. He had no medical history and when I tried to find who he was by scanning his finger print through the system I managed to find a birth certificate and an education history until the age of about 10. This kid had nothing. I'd already filled in the forms to allow him to live in my care as he had no other family and I wasn't letting them put him in a nut house which is where they wanted to send him. That wouldn't help him at all. He needed to feel safe and secure and that is what I was going to do. From the very moment laid eyes on him something just hit me. I feel such a overwhelming urge to protect him.

A small groan brought me out of my thoughts. I looked up at the clock. Wow, I've been daydreaming for three hours.
My attention came to rest on the frail boy that was currently squirming restlessly on the hospital bed. I stood and ran my fingers through his dirty hair. He calmed almost instantly which brought a small smile to my lips.
I watched as his eyes fluttered open, squinting at the harsh light for a moment.
His tired eyes came to rest on me.
'Matty,' He whimpered.
'Hey kiddo you feeling any better?' I asked gently still running my hand through his hair.
'I, I need to pee real bad.' He whispered as his cheeks grew red.
I chuckled at his innocence, 'just let it go. You've got a catheter in so just let loose.' I encouraged, knowing how uncomfortable it was to pee with one in.
He looked like he was fighting with himself before the need to pee won. I praised him and softly spoke to him while we waited for the doctor to come round for his check up.
'Off?' He asked almost afraid.
I knew he was on about the restraints. 'We'll have to wait for the doctor I'm sorry Zane.' I said feeling bad for him.
He nodded and sighed.
Deciding to give him something to hopefully look forward to, I changed the subject. 'Hey kiddo how would you feel about coming to stay with me once your discharged?' I said softly. I watched as his eyes lit up as he looked at me.
'Really?' He asked tentatively.
I nodded. His smile grew but it soon disappeared as he spoke.
'Cant. He'll be mad. Makes it hurt if he's mad.' He whimpered. Tears fell thick and fast down his cheeks as he struggled to breathe once again.
'Noones going to hurt you again Zane. I'll keep you safe. I promise. I'll protect you from whoever and whatever comes your way.' I told him as I comforted him.
