Rachel's POV
The thing about Joe is that he was a lot like Mark. I knew it with in moments of us hanging out together.
Not that Mark was a bad guy, I mean I did love him a lot and l sometimes I question if I still do but if I'm going to be with someone like Mark, the I'd rather just be with Mark.
They were both kind of "bros" I guess. They were both carefree souls. They both handled emotional ranges the same way and that was, not dealing with it. There was nothing wrong with those things except it was too much like myself.
I always figured that Mark and I fought so much because we were too similar. I was also terrible at dealing with other people's emotions and I didn't care too much about a lot of things.
I knew from the start that it wasn't going to work out with Joe. We did get along well as friends though and I had a good time, just no real chemistry.
Joe picked up on the vibe too. He walked me back to the place I was staying in.
"So friends yeah?" He asked me.
"Yah I'd like that." I smiled and headed to open the door before he stopped me.
"Ok I have an idea." His words made me turn back around to him. An idea?
He continued. "You just went through a break up"
"Right"
"Every bad break up needs a rebound."
"Right"
"I will graciously volunteer to be your rebound guy. Since you know you don't like me that way it would make it a easy situation."
I thought about it. I was kind of missing just making out with a guy. A friend with benefits could actually benefit me at the moment. I needed something carefree. The whole break up made me remember why I hated caring in the first place, you get hurt way easier.
Mark always promised he'd never hurt me so I trusted him. I never used to trust anyone.
So carefree, unattached fun is exactly what I needed.
"Ok. I see. Just for my two weeks here yeah?" I asked.
"Sure" he responded with his signature smirk. The smirk sealed the deal for me.
"Alright let's do it." I said. I opened the door. Arden was with Will back at his place so I led Joe in and shut the door behind me. This will be an interesting two weeks to say the least.
