MY PALE HANDS GRIP THE STEERING DEVICE AS I STARE AT GRIEVOUS' SHIP. It's drawing closer to us. None of the Squadron is moving, we're waiting for the ship to come closer. I must allow room for a shot to be made. Darana isn't here with me, she awaits on the ship along with Ahsoka.
Blasts start getting fried at us and we only dodge. I break off from the squadron, making sure to dodge the asteroids which surround us. If we get above, we'll have the upper hand. I manoeuvre the fighter to get behind grievous' ship and blast it. It starts to tip downwards. A separatist fighter exits the ship and I instantly spot who is inside. Grievous.
He's left the ship. There is no point targeting it. Anakin and I both have the same idea. We must stop Grievous before he reaches Hyper-Space. My eyes are forced open and a bright white light overwhelms my vision. The Force is showing me what will happen. Anakin's fighter goes up in flames. He'll be injured. He'll be killed if I don't do something.
My vision ends and I fire a large blast at Grievous' ship. It bursts into flames and Anakin's fighter flies off into space, burning. My eyes widen and I focus all of my attention on the spinning ship. Nothing else matters. I'm pulling it towards me with the force. My head is pounding, along with my heart.
My fingertips are stimming and locking in place. My ears are ringing and I use the force to bring both of our fighters back to the main ship. A liquid drips from my nose. Blood. My eyes are pulsing and I get us both onto the landing platform. I quickly open the hatch of my fighter.
"Medic! We need a medic!" I use the force and flip out of the ship, rushing over the Anakin's. The flames still burn and I try and put them out with the force. Covering my mouth with my robes to not inhale the smoke. It still clouds my mind and makes me dizzy.
I force open the hatch of his ship, using the force to gently lift him into the air. Medics come rushing over and I lower onto the mat. His eyes are crossing, and yet they remain on me even when he's taken away to be examined. Another medic comes over to me. "General, we must examine you." I only nod my head and walk behind them, lowering the robe from my mouth. My lungs are burning and I'm trembling slightly.
I spot Darana in the distance and she rushes over to me. "Master!" She shouts out and slides to a stop beside me. I give her a glance, and a small smile. "I am alright, Darana." I say and she lets out an exhale of relief. "Good, that's great." She pushes her blue hair from her face. Her bright red eyes are staring at me. "I'm sorry, General. We must go." I nod and motion Darana to come with me.
I get lead into a hospital room and the medic motions me to sit on the bed. I do as he says and he checks me for any harm. "Is General Skywalker alright?" I can still feel him through the force, but he's in pain. "I'll have to check, General." I nod at his words and he writes down on a medical chart. "You're free to leave, I'll see if you can visit him." I nod my head at my words, bowing slightly. "Thank you, I sincerely appreciate it." He nods and walks away.
I lift a hand to my mouth, coughing into it. My lungs are burning and I swallow harshly. Blood drops stain my palm. "Master, are you sure you're alright?" Darana asks me, her eyes locked on my trembling hand. I clench it, hiding the blood covered one behind my back. I give her a forced smile, much like my usual ones. "I assure you, I'm completely fine. You shouldn't worry." Her eyes stay on my face for a moment before she nods.
The medic walks back into the room. "You may see the General if you wish." I nod and jump off the bed. I make my way behind the medic and he leads me to another room. Ahsoka stands inside, looking over an unconscious Anakin. His pain radiates through me in waves. The medic leaves to give us privacy. "He's in pain." I call out and the two girls look at me.
I step closer to him, my legs wobbling slightly. I gently take his flesh hand, closing my eyes. I focus on giving him my energy to heal him. My palms are warming and the warmth spreads through me, exciting through my hands. A light pink glow covers the room and Anakin's eyes flutter open.
I drop his hand and moves away. My nose is burning and so are my eyes. "What happened?" He breathes out, still dazed. "You owe Master Novak your skin, Skyguy." His blue eyes trail to me at Ahsoka's words. He shoots me a smile and I give him a nod. "Grievous is AWOL, but the rest of his tinnies are nothing but spare parts." Ahsoka says to him and he tries to sit up.
"Good job, all of you." His voice is still raspy. "Where's R2?" Ahsoka looks down and I frown slightly. "I'm sorry, master. He's gone." Anakin moves to lay down again letting out an exhale. I keep my eyes on him. "Good you girls give us a moment? I have something to discuss with the General." The girls nod their heads and exit the room at my words.
Anakin attempts to sit up again but I stop him by putting my hands out. "Stop." My voice is a whisper. "Stop." I repeat and he stops, letting me lower him back onto the hospital bed. He lets out a sigh. "Are you feeling any pain?" I ask, averting my eyes from his. He shakes his head. "None." I nod and a wave of exhaustion crosses through me. My lungs ache and I turn away from him, coughing. Iron liquid spills from my lips and I wipe my hand into my robe bottoms.
"Etta?" Anakin calls out and I turn to face him, putting on a smile. "I'm fine." I smile out, but my eyes are red from the smoke. He leans up and places a hand on my cheek. He reached up the other to wipe the blood spilling from my nose. My eyes widen slightly and he stares at me softly. "Etta, you're injured." I shake my head with a smile. "I'm really not, I am alright?" I turn my head away but he brings me back.
He's feeling through the force, I can tell. "You inhaled too much smoke." I swallow and close my eyes for a moment. I focus on using the rest of the energy in my body to move around and heal my lungs. This is draining, exhausting me. I blink my blue eyes open again and stare at him. "I'm alright." My lungs feel better now.
He stares at me with wonder in his eyes. "You're incredible, Etta. But you need to start putting yourself before other people." I shake my head. "I'll put you before me. That's something I will always do." His hand remains on my cheek and he brushes his thumb over it. "Thank you for saving me." He leans upwards and gives me a short kiss on my lips.
"I'll always save you, Anakin. Just as I know that you will save me."
