Y/n's POV:
"Y/n wait!" Jodie called, beckoning to Mandip to go in so that she could speak to you.
You span around, slightly startled from the sudden call of your name. "Yeah?" You asked, walking towards Jodie, briefly glancing at Mndip who was making her way inside.
Jodie also walked towards you. "I was wondering if um.." she paused, evidently nervous in the way she was fidgeting with the sleeve of her coat. "If... if we could talk?" She finally asked.
"Talk? Sure, yeah, we can talk... now or...?" You responded, brushing a piece of hair out the way of the side of your face.
"We can talk inside? It's a bit chilly." She stated and you nodded, agreeing.
The two of you began to walk inside the studios and an awkward silence filled the air, neither of you really knew who was going to talk first, so neither of you did and when you arrived at the top of the stairs to Wolf Studios, Jodie held the door open for you. You smiled gratefully and entered before waiting for her to enter too.
"We have ages till we film by the way so do you wanna come to my trailer? They were out the back last time but I'll check." Jodie told you, getting her phone out to call Chris Chibnall. She moved away from you slightly when Chris answered. You noticed her nodding and making a mental note of what he was saying, she gave you a small smile when she hung up. "Yep, they're out on the back lot again, follow me" she smiled, leading the way.
Jodie's trailer was the same as last season, or so she'd told you, because the studio decided to keep it all the same since they'd be filming in the same location again. You noticed little Easter eggs around her main room: pointers to last season, a poster of E.T, Polaroid pictures of her and the cast, vinyls and CDs of her favourite bands and musicians and also, a photo of the two of you, which you were confused about since you hadn't been on set with her yet. "What's that?" You asked, pointing to the picture, it was one that you took in the coffee shop together a couple of weeks prior.
"Oh uh... that's us." She stated awkwardly.
"Yes I know that!" You giggled. "How did it get here?" You asked, tilting your head.
"Um... I came in early the other day to tidy up in here and I uh- I printed it off." She admitted, putting her hands in her pockets as a slight pink blush traced her cheeks, you couldn't help but smile.
"That's really sweet." You told her, running your thumb over the photo, causing Jodie to blush even more. "Oh, what did you want to talk about?" You asked and noticed that Jodie froze slightly.
"Just uh... are you mad at me?" She asked quietly.
"Mad at you? No, not at all! Why?" You reassured her.
"Oh good.. it's just, in the taxi, when um... when our song came on, you moved away from me? And it just seemed like you didn't want to acknowledge what happened at the dance and-" she began to say, before you cut her off, placing your hand on her arm. Her eyes lifted up to meet yours, and you noticed how nervous she was about this.
"You wanna know why I didn't look at you?" You said softly, the corner of your mouth lifting into a smile. She furrowed her brow and tilted her head, signalling for you to carry on. "Because, I was too nervous to look at you. I thought- I thought that if I looked at you... I would kiss you again, and I know that sounds like I don't want to kiss you but the issue is... I do and I really like you and-" you were quickly cut off by Jodie's lips on yours, her hands on your waist. At first you were shocked, but you quickly reciprocated, resting one of your hands on her cheek.
She pulled away softly, leaning her forehead against yours "I wanted to kiss you too." She admitted, causing you to blush slightly.
"Jodie?" You said, playing with her hair, she hummed in response. "Do you wanna... I mean, can I kiss you again?" You asked shyly, to which she nodded.
This time, you kissed her first, a hand still resting in her hair, the other one on her cheek, both of her hands were still on your waist as she held you close to her, your lips moving in synchronicity. Suddenly, the door flew open and you both jumped apart
"Jodi- oh! I'm sorry! God I'm so sorry, hey y/n...??" A very shocked Mandip said in the doorway. "Am I.. interrupting?"
Jodie gave her a stern look to which she giggled and you smiled. "It's fine Mandip, we were just um.. talking." you told her.
"Interesting method of talking!" She smirked and you rolled your eyes. "Anyway, Chris wants you both on set in an hour and a half so you need to head down to hair and makeup" she smiled. Jodie let go of you and the two of you exited the trailer, following Mandip.
