On Day 3 of the second Test, Bangladesh's pace wonder Nahid Rana took out the West Indies for 146, his first five-fer (5-61) in Test match cricket, giving the visitors a slim 18-run advantage. When Stumps was called, Bangladesh had scored 193 for 5 thanks to Shadman Islam (46), Mehidy Hasan Miraz (42), and their lead had grown to 211, solidifying their hold on the game. At Jamaica's Sabina Park, a day full of activity saw 269 runs made and 14 wickets lost.

Bangladesh proceeded with Nahid, who continuously put the batsmen to the test on Day 2. On the third morning, he beat Keacy Carty on the outside edge after finding lateral movement in his first over. Kraigg Brathwaite, the captain of the West Indies, was eventually picked up by him. He repelled a brief delivery, but the ball went straight to the gully fielder.

Early in the morning, the tourists exploited this tiny gap by pushing the door open. Next to leave the field was Kavem Hodge, who nicked at a back-of-a-length delivery to the 'keeper against the fiery fast bowler.

Shortly after, Taijul Islam bowled Justin Greaves, and Alick Athanaze sliced a ball off Taskin Ahmed onto his stumps. The hosts were left reeling at 114 for 6 after Hasan Mahmud entered the game and trapped Joshua da Silva, who was counterattacking, LBW. Carty's 115-ball resistance came to an end when he was strangled down the legside, seeing the devastation unfold from the other end. Kemar Roach was Rana's fifth and last wicket of the innings as he returned to clear up the tail. None of the other batters from the West Indies scored in double figures, with the exception of the top three.

While lateral movement was still possible at Sabina Park, Mahmudul Hasan Joy was dismissed for nothing after Jayden Seales got one to angle in and then nip away. In the fourth over, Shahadat Hossain punished any width provided by Alzarri Joseph with two consecutive boundaries, but he lived dangerously with some near leavers and sliced over the fielders' heads.

While Brathwaite dropped Shahadat at extra-cover, Shadman nearly chopped one on. He holed out to mid-off, ending the latter's 26-ball 28. As the West Indian bowlers began to smash the ball down the incorrect line, Mehidy and Shadman put on a solid 70-run partnership. To start his batting, Mehidy struck Shamar Joseph for four boundaries in a single over. The West Indies had once given up 29 runs in nine deliveries.

In just 29 balls and 11 boundaries, the two hitters reached the 50-run partnership. The runs kept coming at a canter until Shadman and Mehidy both nicked behind to the 'keeper off Shamar, which went against the flow of play. Jaker Ali and Litton Das were in heaven as they consistently hit the boundaries before Greaves' slower delivery bowled the former. Since Bangladesh is now firmly in control, Taijul and Jaker made sure that no more harm was done.

Brief Scores: West Indies 146 (Keacy Carty 40, Kraigg Brathwaite 39; Nahid Rana 5-61, Hasan Mahmud 2-19) are trailing Bangladesh 164 and 193/5 (Shadman Islam 46, Mehidy Hasan Miraz 42; Shamar Joseph 2-70) by 211 runs.
