Chapter 120: Song Yimo’s Decision

Song Yimo clutched her bag tightly. Inside it was everything she owned.

A seven-figure sum. She had the means to save Wu Ting.

But just days ago, she’d been planning to ask her brother to take her to H City. With property prices on the rise, her savings could buy her an apartment there, perhaps even a small villa, something to sit on as it appreciated in value.

In this second chance at life, she’d set a simple goal for herself: to become a property owner, collecting rental income. Even if she only ever published this one successful book, with her current earnings, she could secure a few properties in the city and never have to worry about money again.

She was so close to taking that first small step towards her dream, but…

But this was a life.

Wu Ting wasn’t a stranger. She was her classmate, someone she’d walked to and from school with. Whenever someone gossiped about her, Wu Ting and Zuo Chun would team up to defend her, firing back without hesitation.

Money could be earned again; a life, once lost, was gone forever.

Yes, she could make back the money—she was sure of it.

Buying property could wait a little longer; her goal would still be there. She couldn’t let money be a shackle on her conscience.

That’s right. This was her path.

With newfound resolve, Song Yimo dialed her number.

Before she could even speak, Miao Zhiruo’s voice erupted on the other end.

“Yimo, I have never seen parents so heartless! Do you know what Wu Ting’s father said? He said if she’s paralyzed, she might as well be dead, so she wouldn’t be a burden to the family. And her mother? She just said Wu Ting isn’t her responsibility because she doesn’t have custody, and told me to go back to her father! They act like she’s not even their child, just some object they can toss back and forth!”

Song Yimo wasn’t surprised—she even gave a bitter laugh. “Is it really so strange? Didn’t I end up with parents who couldn’t care less if I lived or died?”

There was a brief silence on the line. When Miao Zhiruo spoke again, her anger had softened. “Yimo…”

“What about Grandma Wu?”

“Grandma Wu said she’d spend her entire savings if it meant saving Wu Ting.”

“I’ve found out a few things. Hand the phone to Grandma Wu—I’ll talk to her.”

“Don’t hang up; I’m on the stairs.”

Through the phone, Su Yimo could clearly hear the hurried footsteps and Miao Zhiruo’s labored breathing.

Miao Zhiruo had been working out for a year and wouldn’t normally be out of breath from just a few flights of stairs. Song Yimo knew she was just that worried.

Soon, Miao’s voice came through, “Grandma Wu, Yimo wants to speak to you.”

An elderly voice answered, “Yimo?”

“It’s me, Grandma Wu—Song Yimo, Zhang Chunxiang’s granddaughter.”

“Ah, Zhang Chunxiang! I know her well.” The old woman seemed to breathe a sigh of relief. “What news have you heard?”

“I spoke to a doctor I know at the Central Hospital. He says Wu Ting’s injuries are severe, and she needs to be transferred to a major hospital immediately. The sooner she gets specialized care, the better her chances of recovery.”
