Chapter 122: It’s Wonderful to Have an Older Brother

As she opened the door, the aroma of freshly cooked food filled the air.

Grandma Song peeked out from the kitchen. "You’re back! Muyang, you’ve got perfect timing—said you’d be here by eight, and here you are. Go wash your hands. I’ll have a quick dish stir-fried, and then we can eat."

Song Yimo, still feeling a bit drowsy after her nap, went to wash her face, and the cool water helped her wake up. With a clearer mind, she suddenly remembered she’d missed something—she’d told Miao Dad about her plans but had forgotten to inform Grandma about her whereabouts.

"Yimo, come on, dinner’s ready."

After drying her face, Song Yimo came out of the washroom and saw her brother dishing out rice. She sidled up to him, whispering, "Dage, does Grandma know what we went out to do?"

Handing her a bowl of rice, Zhai Muyang replied, "When you decided to go to Mang City, I gave her a call. Grandma was still awake when we left this afternoon, so she probably understands the situation by now. Don’t worry—she won’t mind. And B City Hospital is already set up. Wu Ting’s transfer papers are all taken care of, and the ambulance should be on its way to the airport as we speak."

Song Yimo’s face lit up, her eyes curving with relief. She secretly thought how wonderful it was to have an older brother. All her worries were settled for her in the time it took to have a nap.

She hadn’t felt particularly hungry, but as soon as she took the first bite, she realized just how starving she was.

Seeing her eat so enthusiastically, Grandma Song sighed quietly to herself, continuously adding food to her granddaughter’s plate, barely eating anything herself.

Song Yimo didn’t want to waste any time, so as soon as she’d finished, she headed back to her room and opened her computer.

One reason she needed to come back was to explain things clearly to Grandma, especially given the substantial expenses. Not saying anything about it would be far too rude. And there was another reason: she needed to upload her drafts into the publishing queue to avoid breaking her release schedule.

She had been maintaining a steady draft buffer of twenty chapters, but with her recent break for finals, she was now down to only nineteen. After heading to B City, she wasn’t sure how she’d manage, so she knew she’d have to talk to her brother about it. She’d need to carve out time to keep writing—running out of drafts wasn’t an option.

And she needed to message Brother Liang, too.

Logging into her account, she wasn’t surprised to see that Zhang Chuliang’s icon was flashing.

After skimming the messages, she saw nothing urgent and typed her own quickly:

Barely Rich: Brother Liang, I’ve got an emergency and need to be away for a while. I’ll keep up the regular updates, but I won’t be able to post extra chapters. As for promotions, you handle it as you see fit. If anything comes up, leave me a message—I’ll check in now and then.

Zhang Chuliang: How long will you be gone?

Barely Rich: Hard to say. My classmate was in a car accident, so I’m taking her to the best hospital in B City for treatment. If she recovers quickly, I’ll be back soon. Otherwise… I might be away for a while.

Classmate?

Zhang Chuliang adjusted his glasses thoughtfully. Was it an old classmate or a current one?

He was now more certain than ever that Barely Rich was a college student!

But to write with such skill at such a young age...
