Chapter 125: Arrival in B City

By the time they reached B City, it was already one o'clock. The hospital staff had been waiting at the airport for some time.

Wu Ting was carefully lifted into the ambulance, and as Grandma Wu climbed in, she glanced at Song Yimo.

Song Yimo stepped over to soothe the old woman’s visible worry. “Dage and I will get to the hospital quickly. As soon as we arrive, the doctors will start Wu Ting’s examination. They won’t delay just because some paperwork hasn’t been completed.”

Grandma Wu’s tension eased a little. She patted Song Yimo’s shoulder without saying much. Some things go beyond simple gratitude—if her Wu Ting could stand up again, their family would owe Song Yimo a lifetime.

The ambulance roared away, and Zhai Muyang put a reassuring arm around Song Yimo’s shoulder. “Don’t worry, Wu Mu has already made arrangements. The best specialists in this field will be treating her.”

Wu Mu?

A flash of realization crossed Song’s face.

Wu Mu?!

That’s Wu Mu!

Zheng Senlin ambled over with his usual nonchalance. “Shall we head to the hospital?”

“Yes,” Zhai Muyang replied, “have one of your bodyguards lend me a car. You can head back—won’t need you for this part.”

“Oh, so now that the river’s crossed, you’re ready to burn the bridge?” Zheng Senlin teased. “Fine, I’ll let it slide. Yimo, let Zheng-ge here take you—ouch, easy, man!”

Zhai Muyang withdrew his foot, his expression dark. “Sobering up yet?”

Rubbing his sore hip, Zheng Senlin quickly caught his mistake; he’d been a bit too flippant, and Zhai Muyang’s kick was a restrained reminder.

“You know I didn’t mean it like that. Alright, alright—Yimo, little sister…no, Zheng-ge had too much to drink. I wasn’t trying to be disrespectful, so don’t hold it against me.”

Song Yimo shook her head. Honestly, if it weren’t for Zhai Muyang’s intervention and Zheng Senlin’s apology, she wouldn’t even have thought to take it that way.

She knew it wasn’t about ignorance; it was about trusting those her brother trusted.

“Zheng-ge only talks like that because he doesn’t see me as an outsider. I understand.”

“See?” Zheng Senlin threw a look at Zhai Muyang, warming a bit more to Song Yimo. “She gets it.”

“Zheng-ge, I’d like to head to the hospital. Why don’t you go home and rest? It’s late.”

“Late? The night’s still young!” Zheng Senlin spread his arms, facing the sky. The thought of parting with his carefree life stirred a small thrill within him.

Bah, must be the alcohol.

“Let’s go to the hospital.”

Two lifetimes, and this was Song Yimo’s first visit to the capital.

She didn’t know what the city looked like by day, but at dawn, it was still and vast, with an emptiness unique to the capital. Even the same time and wide space didn’t feel like this back south.

“It’s way past your bedtime. Lean on me and catch a little sleep.”

Yawning, she nestled into her brother’s familiar embrace, and soon dozed off.

Zhai Muyang adjusted her position gently, then pulled a blanket from the cabinet in the luxury van and draped it over her.

Zheng Senlin watched, raising his eyebrows. Was he really treating her like a sister, not something more?
