Chapter 130: A Heart Disturbed by Worry

Outside the hospital room, a nurse stood hesitantly, blocked from entering. She considered trying to reason her way through, but the intimidating gazes of the two men stationed at the door stopped her words cold.

Yan Chengyun, posted at the entrance, remained in a quiet standoff with Zhou Qing. Though he wasn’t allowing anyone inside, his demeanor was perfectly courteous.

“Secretary Yang is simply speaking with Miss Song for a moment. Please be patient.”

“Move aside.”

“Just a moment, please.”

Zhou Qing’s brows furrowed. His instructions from the boss were to permit the meeting but also to ensure Miss Song’s safety. And now… this.

Just then, the door opened from inside, and Yang Shusheng appeared. Ignoring the tension between the two men, he sidestepped past Yan Chengyun, addressing the nurse with an air of authority. “The IV needs changing.”

The nurse nodded repeatedly, hurrying into the room.

Yang Shusheng gestured for Yan Chengyun to bring in the fruit basket and turned to Zhou Qing. “Tell Muyang to give me a call.”

Zhou Qing nodded respectfully. “I’ll pass on the message.”

When Yan Chengyun emerged from the room, he reminded him in a low voice, “Secretary Yang, you have a meeting at 10:30.”

Yang Shusheng nodded. “Let’s go.”

Inside, the nurse had already left after changing the IV. Only then did Song Yimo realize Wu Ting had woken up at some point.

She dipped a cotton swab in water and moistened Wu Ting’s lips, asking, “How much did you hear?”

“I woke up when you were pouring water for him.”

Song Yimo didn’t mind; there was nothing said that she’d hide.

“That man has a powerful presence. He looks like some kind of official.”

“I’m only connected to him as Muyang’s sister. If my brother doesn’t recognize him, then he has nothing to do with me.”

Wu Ting, who had overheard everything, nodded. She didn’t need Yimo’s reassurance to know that Yimo would never call him ‘Uncle Yang.’ People might think Yimo’s mild demeanor meant she was easy to bend, but her kindness was reserved for her own—for those like her, Zuo Chun, and Miao Zhiruo, who were closer than blood sisters.

She’d even heard that Yimo hadn’t been kind to her uncle. According to Song’s grandmother, Yimo had once driven her uncle out of the hospital room herself.

It was simply that Yimo fiercely protected those close to her.

Wu Ting thought herself fortunate—she must have done enough good in a past life to be blessed with Yimo’s friendship in this one.

On the nineteenth floor of the Zhaowei Tower, the entire floor was a single office, divided into two rooms. The outer office was for work, while the inner was a private lounge.

Sunlight poured through the floor-to-ceiling glass walls, enhancing the room’s sense of grandeur.

Zhai Muyang stood by the glass, looking down at the tiny, ant-like figures below, his arms crossed, his expression cold and unreadable.

This was a side of him that Song Yimo had never seen, and it was a side he never wanted to show her.

“If you’re worried, why allow them to meet at all?” Zheng Senlin asked, leaning against the glass wall as he handed a glass of wine to his friend.
