Chapter 142: Daily Life of The Siblings, Part 4
Seeing Yimo’s silence, a thought crossed Zhai Muyang’s mind. “Is there something wrong with the stock market?”
“Dage… don’t you think the market’s overheated? Since last fall, it’s been surging nonstop. But unlike business, where good work and stability can hold things steady, the stock market’s inherently unstable. It… it always has a fall coming.”
Zhai Muyang chuckled, reaching up to ruffle her hair gently.
He’d actually returned to the country a week earlier but delayed visiting her precisely because of the stock market.
A few sharp-minded investors had already sensed something was off, and when they noticed him gradually selling off most of his shares, they reached out to pull him into their circle.
Ordinarily, he could ignore others’ troubles, but one of those calling on him was Old Shi, a senior figure who had helped him greatly when he was first establishing himself in S City. Old Shi was someone he deeply respected.
On top of that, a few of the others in that group were business partners; if they suffered any major losses, it could affect him as well. Weighing it all, he decided to share his perspective and worked with them to obtain some critical data.
Song Yimo only knew he’d spent a week in S City, not that he was occupied with this matter. Hearing her bring up the stock market now surprised him.
Song Yimo had never shown interest in finance, and she’d long ago decided on a different path for herself. Why would she be concerned with the stock market now?
“Thinking of switching to finance?”
Song Yimo shook her head vigorously. “No, of course not.”
“Then why the sudden interest in the stock market?”
“It just feels like everyone’s gone mad. They’re leaving their jobs, neglecting their families, mortgaging their homes, practically living in the trading halls day and night. It’s… it’s not normal.”
What even a young girl could see, yet so many people were still diving in, leaving themselves no way out. Who knew where they found the courage?
“Don’t worry—I’ve already sold most of my shares. What’s left are ones I believe are stable enough for now. Even if the market crashes, it won’t affect me.”
Song Yimo patted her chest, sighing with relief but feeling admiration too.
She’d brought up the market because she’d known what might happen, but her brother had already sensed the danger and acted immediately. This was the difference between someone truly capable and those who relied on tricks just to get one step ahead.
“Dage, you’re amazing.”
“No choice, really.” Zhai Muyang leaned back, his eyes warm with gentle humor. “With such an impressive little sister, how could I be anything less?”
Song Yimo blushed a little, instinctively reaching to brush back her hair, then remembered it was tied in a bun…
She lifted her hands and let it down entirely, her hair cascading to her waist, softening her features with an even greater touch of grace.
Zhai Muyang watched her, entranced, then rose to fetch a brush from her vanity and carefully combed her hair, his movements tender, afraid to tug a single strand.
This wasn’t the first time he’d done this for her, so Song Yimo thought nothing of it, shifting to make it easier as she continued their earlier conversation.
