Chapter 148: A Young Couple

After the tour, with the tea ready, Zheng Senlin and the others finally arrived, fashionably late.

“This place is perfect for some good old rest and relaxation,” Zheng Senlin mused, eyes wandering around. “This area, out of the whole resort, really speaks to me, Lao Zhai. You’re not charging rent on these houses, are you?”

Zhai Muyang ignored him, gesturing for Zhou Mo and Ma Bo to sit.

Zheng Senlin took no offense, settling comfortably into a single armchair, glancing around. “Where’s little Yimo?”

“Right here, Zheng-ge,” Song Yimo answered, emerging with a tray bearing five steaming cups of tea.

“You know, little Yimo, from now on we’ll be seeing each other a lot more.”

After setting each cup down, Song Yimo looked up, puzzled, and sat obediently next to her brother. “Are you planning to move here, Zheng-ge?”

“Not move, but I’ll definitely be visiting often. You’re going to B City for university, right? Makes it easy to meet up when we’re all there.”

Zhai Muyang’s brow lifted, his smile holding some secret amusement.

“I’m not going to B City for university. Did my brother tell you that?” A flash of understanding crossed Song Yimo’s face—of course, Zheng-ge would know if her brother was making property investments in B City.

“I’ll be heading to S City. They have an excellent foreign language university there.”

“Ohhh…” Zheng Senlin drawled, glancing at Lao Zhai, who was trying hard to contain his obvious delight. He wisely refrained from commenting. After all, at this stage in life, finding someone to care about him so much was no small feat.

Meanwhile, Zhou Mo lifted his tea, savoring its aroma and letting the flavor linger before swallowing. He took a moment, then nodded. “Good tea. Is this the same kind they sell as a resort specialty? The one I had earlier outside didn’t taste quite as refined.”

“This was hand-processed by my grandmother. If you like it, Zhou-ge, I’ll package some for you to take home.”

“I’d appreciate that. This tea doesn’t have that immediate burst of flavor, but it leaves a lingering richness. Really fine.”

“Old-timers’ craftsmanship still stands out,” Zhai Muyang said, giving Song Yimo a gentle pat on the back. “I need to discuss some business with the guys. Why don’t you go into the other room and read that book you brought along? Once we’re done, we’ll head home.”

“Alright.” Song Yimo nodded, picking up her own tea cup. “I’ll head inside.”

Zheng Senlin waved her off, watching until she closed the door. He then raised his brows and, with a cheeky grin, whispered, “Doesn’t it just feel like watching a newly-wed couple? Can’t help but think they look like one, right?”

Zhai Muyang’s expression barely flickered, but he quickly masked it with a casual smile and turned to business. “Have you all offloaded those stocks yet?”

The change in tone brought a similar seriousness to the others. “When you called the other day, I sold everything,” Zheng Senlin said. “Though those stocks have only continued to soar.”

Zhou Mo, hands clasped over his abdomen, looked thoughtful behind his glasses. “You bring it up now—is there some trouble on the horizon, or have you spotted something else?”

Zhai Muyang walked to the window, gazing at the gently swaying trees outside. “Word is, some foreign investment giants are showing signs of pulling out. As you know, these are the forces truly driving the market; when they exit, chaos will likely follow. We’re nearing the peak.”
