Chapter 150: Out of the Sea of Worries

Their relationship didn’t change after Zhai Muyang recognized his feelings, though Song Yimo felt that her brother seemed to be treating her even better.

On June 7th, a restless energy filled the air throughout the city.

Two cars pulled up almost simultaneously, and the moment Song Yimo stepped out, she saw Miao Miao sprinting toward her at full speed.

“Mo Mo, let’s hurry up and run, or my mom will catch us and start nagging again.”

Song Yimo glanced back at the car. Miao Miao’s mother was already heading their way, wearing a bright red dress, blazing like a ball of fire.

Ignoring Miao Miao’s pleading look, Song Yimo walked up to her, “Miao Mama, you look amazing today.”

“Of course! I brought three red dresses just for today. We’re going for triple good luck.”

“…” Song Yimo could understand Miao Miao’s despair; Miao Mama was a bit too intense.

Miao Jun approached from behind, “Enough. Give the water bottle to Zhiruo and don’t delay them.”

He Yi glanced at her watch, quickly slung the water bottle around her daughter’s neck, checked Yimo’s backpack to make sure everything was in place, and then pushed the two of them toward the school. “Just do your best. No pressure—give it your all, and you’ll be in the college of your dreams.”

Song Yimo managed to wave at her brother as she merged into the crowd flowing into the campus.

A few steps in, she paused and looked back, her gaze unfocused as she saw her tall brother standing out in the crowd.

She’d been granted a second chance at the most beautiful days of her life, but the path and outcome were so different this time around. At times, a creeping unease surfaced, a fear that all this was just a fleeting dream.

What if, when she awoke, she was once again the penniless, empty-handed Song Yimo?

She feared losing the people she loved—her brother, her grandmother. And she feared that the world would never again give her someone who cherished her, protected her, and spoiled her like her brother did.

She had woken from nightmares more than once, dreading that her brother might be nothing more than a creation of her deepest longings.

It reminded her of those days of utter exhaustion when she had yearned for someone strong, someone invincible to shield her. Her brother embodied everything she had once imagined.

If this were indeed just a dream, she would rather die within it than wake to find it gone.

Noticing her trance-like stillness, Zhai Muyang hurried over. “Yimo, Yimo? What’s wrong?”

Song Yimo snapped out of her thoughts, and the sounds of the bustling surroundings rushed back in, including Miao Miao’s anxious shouts.

“Just got lost in thought for a moment, I’m fine.”

Zhai Muyang still frowned. “You were doing fine just a second ago. Why the sudden shift?”

“Dage.”

“Hm?”

“Dage.” Song Yimo repeated with a serious, resolute look, “Will you still be here when I come out?”

“Of course. I’ll be here both days.” Reading the unease in her eyes, Zhai Muyang’s confusion softened into tenderness. “Whatever others have, Yimo will have too. Go take your exam with a calm heart, alright?”
