At the Emerald High School Ground in Indore, Baroda's top order came out firing against Sikkim with knockout qualification on the line, amassing an incredible 349 for 5, the best T20 total ever, surpassing Zimbabwe's 344 for 4 against Gambia just last month in Nairobi.
They broke a few more milestones along the way, including the one for most sixes hit in a T20 innings (37). Previously, Zimbabwe held this record with 27 sixes in the same match versus Gambia. With 294 runs, Baroda also had the most runs from fours and sixes in a T20 innings. Additionally, this was the first SMAT game to ever have a total of 300 or more.
Bhanu Pania, the third batsman, finished undefeated with 134 off just 51 deliveries, including 15 of the 37 sixes. The middle-order duo of Shivalik Sharma (55 off 17) and Vishnu Solanki (50 off 16) contributed to the destruction of Sikkim's bowlers, as did openers Shashwat Rawat (43 off 17) and Abhimanyu Singh Rajput (53 off 17).
In the PowerPlay, a disheartened Sikkim was further battered as they hobbled to 19 for 3. In the tenth over, that quickly changed to 36 for 4. With statistics of 1 for 8 in 4 overs, Krunal Pandya, whose batting talents were not required, bowled two maidens. Mahesh Pithya and Ninad Ashvinkumar Rathva each claimed two wickets as Sikkim lost by a massive 263 runs, finishing at 86 for 7 in 20 overs.
Meghalaya vs Punjab
In Rajkot, Punjab crushed Meghalaya's 142 for 7 in just 9.4 overs because to Abhishek Sharma's scorching, undefeated 106 off 29 balls, which was peppered with eight fours and eleven sixes. Along with Urvil Patel, Abhishek scored his century off of 28 balls, which was the second-fastest by an Indian in the format.
Abhishek used his left-arm spin to pick 2 for 24 in four overs before he flung his bat around. In order to limit Meghalaya to a manageable score, Ramandeep Singh also took two wickets, and three other players each took one. Then, in the first half of Punjab's retaliation, the captain went on to polish it off, making a whole farce of it.
Arunachal Pradesh vs Delhi
Delhi's fast bowler Aayush Singh was a shining star for the bowlers on a day of amazing batting feats. He took four wickets and bowled a maiden in his four overs to assist his team knock out Arunachal Pradesh for just 89 runs in Mumbai. Then, in just 6.1 overs, Yash Dhull (35* off 16) and Priyansh Arya (54* off 21) hammered their way to the goal for a decisive 10-wicket triumph.
