Monday morning came with a buzz of excitement and curiosity. I couldn’t wait to see my friends and hear all the gossip about what went down after we left.

At the assembly ground, our headmaster addressed the entire school. His voice was calm but firm, carrying an air of seriousness that silenced even the noisiest students.
“Good morning, everyone. On behalf of the school management, I want to sincerely apologize for the events during Friday’s excursion. It was poorly planned, and we accept full responsibility for any fear or discomfort you experienced.”

A murmur of approval swept through the crowd. At least he admitted it, I thought.

But then his tone shifted, growing sharper. “However,” he continued, “it has come to our attention that some students were engaging in inappropriate behavior during the trip. This behavior is unacceptable, and we will be conducting a full investigation to ensure those involved are held accountable.”

The murmurs turned into gasps and whispers. My eyes immediately darted toward Laura, who was standing beside me. Her expression mirrored my shock.
“Wow,” I whispered. “Who do you think snitched?”

Laura shrugged, her lips twitching with curiosity. “Probably one of their classmates. Or maybe the teachers saw everything and kept quiet until now.”

“Hmm,” Gift chimed in, joining the conversation. “Honestly, I won’t be surprised if it’s both. You know some people just can’t keep their mouths shut.”

We giggled quietly, though the weight of the headmaster’s announcement still lingered.

In class, the topic dominated every corner of conversation. “So who do you think they’ll catch first?” Ruth asked as she pulled her chair closer to ours.

“I don’t know,” I replied. “But Blessing and her gang should be scared. They were the ones causing all the trouble.”

“You think they’ll suspend them?” Laura asked, leaning forward.

“Suspension? They might even expel them,” Gift said, her eyes wide. “You know how strict this school can be when it comes to things like this.”

As we debated, the teacher walked in, silencing the buzz of gossip. But even as the lesson went on, my mind kept drifting back to the headmaster’s words. Who told him? And how far would this investigation go?

When the final bell rang, signaling the end of the day, I packed my books and turned to my friends. “Let’s keep our ears open, sha. This week will be interesting.”

“Very interesting,” Laura replied, smirking.

We left the class together, the air buzzing with a mix of nervousness and curiosity.
