Resuming school on Monday felt heavy with sadness. Normally, it should have been a day of excitement, especially as we moved up to Senior Class 2, but Ruth's recent loss cast a shadow over all of us. Our laughter was subdued, and the usual chatter felt empty without Kyla, who had moved on to lectures like most of the other Class 3 students. I missed her dearly—her energy always brightened the classroom.

A flicker of joy came when my favorite teacher called to inform me about an interview for class prefect elections. I was eventually elected as the Social Prefect, a position that perfectly matched my personality and passion for bringing people together. Laura, ever my supportive best friend, decided to be my assistant for Social Prefect, choosing the role over being the Assistant Head Girl. It was just like her to put our bond above everything else.

The following day, the results for all the elected prefects were announced during assembly. As Laura and I were called up for Social Prefect and Assistant Social Prefect, the applause that erupted made my heart swell with pride. The juniors, who adored our approachable nature, cheered the loudest. Despite the happiness of this new role, Ruth's predicament lingered at the back of my mind.

Weeks passed, and Ruth’s mom was finally laid to rest. The burial was somber, and seeing her struggle to hold herself together was heartbreaking. All her close friends, including Laura, Gift, and me, made sure to attend and offer her as much support as possible. Afterward, Ruth gradually began returning to her cheerful self, though we always made sure to be there for her whenever she needed us.

As I settled into my role as Social Prefect, I began brainstorming ideas to leave a lasting legacy. After much thought, I proposed hosting a "White Day", an event to unite the three school clubs—Art, Science, and Food & Baking. Each club would showcase their talents and projects, giving students a chance to shine. The dress code, as the name implied, would be all-white outfits.

When I pitched the idea to our art teacher, she was thrilled. "This is exactly the kind of event we need to build excitement in the school!" she exclaimed. Her enthusiasm set the tone for the preparations, which kicked off immediately. Each club eagerly began practicing and organizing their displays, while Laura and I worked tirelessly to coordinate the event.

Though the sadness of Ruth's loss still lingered, planning White Day gave us something joyful to look forward to. It was an opportunity to create beautiful memories amidst the challenges we all faced. And I was determined to make it unforgettable.
