"Commandant Keith Shadis."
The Levi Squad and Hange sat around a table, with Keith at the center. They had come to learn more about his connection to Grisha Jaeger.
Keith took a deep breath before beginning his story, explaining how he first encountered Grisha and how, ultimately, he was just a bystander in a much larger tale.
"Ah, is that why you sabotaged Eren's belt during the aptitude test?" Adrasteia asked, breaking the silence.
Everyone turned to Keith, startled by the question.
He sighed, his shoulders slumping slightly. "Yes. Because this place wasn't meant for him. I wanted him to live as his true self, not tied down to a soldier's life. It's what I believed Carla would have wanted for her son."
The room went quiet for a moment as the squad absorbed his words. Levi's eyes narrowed slightly. "You thought you could decide that for him?"
"I didn't decide anything," Keith replied, his voice calm but firm. "Eren made his own choices. All I did was give him a moment to reconsider."

Two nights of the battle to retake Wall Maria.
"In other words. . . Eren's father Grisha Jaeger very well may be a human from outside the walls," Erwin concluded.
"Yes, and he had the power of the titans just like Annie, Reiner, and Bertholdt. But unlike those three, he wanted to help those inside the walls," Hange replied.
"If he was so interested in the Survey Corps, it would've been nice if he's helped us out a bit more," one said.
"I'm not sure. Considering everything else he knew, it's possible Dr. Jaeger even knew the truth about the ideology passed down in the Reiss family. Perhaps he chose not to share that to keep the Royal Government from finding out about him."
As the higher-ranking officials discussed the new information, Orion, Adarsteia's raven stood by the window while Adrasteia, on the other hand, stood by the courtyard, listening to their conversation through Orion.
"As of today, we are ready. The operation to retake Wall Maria will take place two days from now. So we want to know what's in the basement? Well, let's go see."
As the rest left Erwin's office, Levi was left behind.
"What is it, Levi?" Erwin questioned.
"This may sound impatient but what are we going to do after retaking Wall Maria? I assume that coming up with a defense plan will be first but after that?"
"There seems to be someone out on the other side of the wall who's determined to see us eaten by titans. And our best shot of finding out who. . . seems to be in that basement. So, as I said before, let's think about that after we get to that basement."
Levi's attempt to make Erwin stay had failed. No matter what he said, it was clear that nothing would change Erwin's mind.
"I have to be there when we finally uncover the truth about this world," Erwin said firmly, his eyes unwavering.
Levi let out a resigned sigh. "Fine. But you better not make me regret letting you go through with this."
Erwin gave a small, knowing smile. "After we successfully retake Wall Maria, we'll continue investigating her. I've noticed you've grown close to the kid, Levi. Be careful not to get too attached. . . You don't want to end up disappointed."
