The door was opened, a slim figure sauntering down the steps like nothing was wrong before Maeve's legs were slapped. She rolled her eyes and stood, vacating to sit on the opposite couch. Taking her place, Mylo slumped down onto the couch she had been on previously, lying out on it fully. He had scooped up a ball on his way before he began throwing it at the target, making a loud thud and racket with each time the ball hit the metal.
"Jesus, that's annoying." Maeve rolled her eyes, laying like he was but with her head closer to Vi, whilst Mylo's head was further away from the pink haired girl.
"Then get a cover for your ears?" He retorted sarcastically and Maeve mimiced him mockingly. She hated how Mylo was always making a sound, but she sighed and tried to remember that he wasn't like her and Vi. They had responsibilities shoved onto their shoulders, they were made to be the leaders by Vander for their show of strength.
Mylo never had to worry like they did.
"She's a problem." Without even naming the poor girl, both teenagers knew immediately who the boy spoke of. Maeve gritted her teeth, her brows furrowing into a hard expression as she tried to bite her tongue and not reply to what Mylo was saying, but Vi simply sighed heavily.
"Mylo, i'm really not-"
"Do you remember what was in that bag?" He threw the ball nonchalantly, but Vi wasn't looking at him. Her eyes were downcasted towards Maeve. Her hair wasn't in its usual ponytail. It was let down to cascade down the side of the sofa, her eyes looking towards the ceiling with her lips pursed into a thin line. Although Vi wasn't in a good mood, she wondered what it would be like to- "The biggest payout we've ever seen and she just lost it."
"She tried, alright?" Maeve couldn't help but snap, her eyes rolling in their sockets. "She was scared, Mylo. Are you that much of an insensitive asshole to not think about that?"
"Exactly. She made a mistake." Vi agreed, her eyes glancing towards Mylo with a fed up expression.
"Name one time she hasn't."
"Mylo!" Maeve hushed her tone the best she could, she tried to not make it sound like a hiss. "Leave her alone."
"She's young."
"Don't bullshit me." Mylo snapped back at the two girls that were trying to defend Powder. His brows were knitted together tightly, his gaze judging as it landed on the pair of them. "You guys were twice the person at half her age."
"We were made to be." Maeve spat back, sitting up straight before scoffing at Mylo. She couldn't believe his attitude.
"You know what, Mylo?" Vi spoke up, her tone only enunciating how done she was with Mylo's opinions. "You're right. There's a bunch of things Powder just can't do."
"You don't have to tell me twice." He retorted with a roll of his eyes, throwing the ball once more.
"Like, complain about everything." Vi continued what she was saying, and Mylo felt shocked. He frowned and stopped throwing the ball, his eyes staring at Vi in disbelief.
"What?"
"And brag nonstop." Vi moved in her seat so that she was sat properly, her arms resting on her legs. "Or argue with a girl just because she intimidates you."
