The scene continues from the prologue scene where Shivaay goes to the meeting after having the anti- anxiety pills.
As I stepped into Rashmi Enterprises with Ranveer by my side, the polished marble floors and bright, corporate walls did little to calm the storm brewing inside me. The sharp echo of our footsteps was drowned out by my thoughts.
My phone buzzed, and I glanced at the screen. Mom.
"Ranveer, go ahead. I'll join you in a moment," I said, motioning for him to proceed to the meeting room. I answered the call as I slowed my pace.
"Yes, Maa," I said, a small smile softening my features. Her voice came through the line, filled with emotion and a touch of sulking. "You don't even have time to visit your mother these days. Are you too busy for me, Shiv?"
I sighed, guilt prickling at me. "I'll come home soon, Maa. I promise," I said softly, trying to reassure her. "Just a couple of meetings, and I'll be there. Take care of yourself until then."
Her grumbles faded as I hung up, sliding my phone back into my pocket. I adjusted my suit jacket and began walking toward the meeting room, my mind already shifting back to work. But then, out of nowhere, I stumbled.
My reflexes kicked in as I caught hold of someone—no, not someone, but her.
Time seemed to freeze.
There she was, in my arms, looking up at me with wide, startled eyes. Aarvi.
My heartbeat stuttered, then raced. Memories crashed over me like a tidal wave—her laughter echoing in the corridors of our college, her shy stammer as she whispered my name, the way her eyes lit up whenever she smiled.
But now, those same eyes were filled with pain. A mirror to the ache in my own chest.
For a fleeting moment, I forgot everything. My hands tightened around her arms, as if letting her go would shatter me all over again. But then the memories of her betrayal came flooding back—the way she had thrown my love, my dreams, my heart, away like it meant nothing.
