Ch 6
Walking into the kitchen, Jocelyn was peering at the card in her hand that she found with a vase crammed full of flowers. She had searched curiously at who would have sent the flowers the night before. She kept the card until she could ask Brielle about the message that was sprawled across in metallic ink. The message was peculiar, it read “The eye beholds the untold” Jocelyn felt uneasy reading the card and also felt as if something was out of place but was unable to pinpoint what it was. She shrugged it off. Maybe keeping busy was reaping havoc on her ability to keep the line of reality and craziness from blending together.
The loud thud followed by Brielle walking out of her room, caused Jocelyn to jump in surprise. “Brielle, you about gave me a heart attack.” She paused and proceeded to ask about the flowers and gave a questioning look. “Unsure who may have sent them, but I wonder if it’s any way related to some of the weird things happening lately.” Brielle commented with slight concern in her voice. “Let’s just be more cautious of surroundings and look or listen for anything out of the norm.”
The girls continued on with their morning meal and chatted about Brielle’s interview with Jackson. Jocelyn had a look on her face as if she was contemplating something. “Brielle, do you think that those flowers could be from Jackson? He could have had them delivered here shortly after leaving for the date. You did say that he missed you.” Jocelyn tried to remain neutral on the Jackson subject.
“I am so confused lately. There has always been part of me that would like to get back together with him but I just don’t think I could trust him after he cheated on me.” Brielle was on the verge of a panic attack.
As the conversation became uncomfortable, Jocelyn changed the subject to avert any bad memories that may arise. Choosing to have a girls’ night that called for movies, ice cream, and chatting about the latest trends were on the must have list for the evening.
The movie was nearing the end as the night was when there was a knock on the door. Brielle looked over where Jocelyn had been sitting and noticed that she had fallen asleep. “Looks like I better see who decided to pay us a visit.” Opening the door, the only thing present was a small box that looked to contain something rather expensive. Picking up the dainty teal box, Brielle made her way over to wake Jocelyn. “Wake up, I want you to see this Jocelyn.” Brielle was a bundle of nerves as to why a box would be left at their doorstep so late in the evening.
The teal box was wrapped in white ribbon with a knotted bow on top. Peeling at the bow, the box was released of the tight constraint the bow had placed. Slowly lifting the lid, the slip of paper fell out. The paper had similar writing as the card that had arrived with the flowers. Opening the paper to read its contents, Brielle gasped loudly. “A Photo contains the key to your imagination, but this box contains a key to your heart” After reading the note, Brielle was in shock. The box held a beautiful silver charm bracelet.
