Hi everyone!!
How are you all doing? This book has so many chapters already! I hope that from each chapter, or if not from one of those, you found the warmth and comfort you're hoping for!
I'm trying to make the scenarios as realistic as I can, but I can get too comfy with my writing, so there are some cringey parts in some chapters!
Anyway, I am getting sentimental right now hahaha but here's another chapter for you all!
Happy reading, everyone! 💓

It was 7:30 in the morning when Y/N's phone rang, the sound of her best friend's name flashing across the screen. Her heart sank. She had been expecting this call, yet she wasn't ready for it. The early morning quiet of their flat felt heavy, and the boys hadn't even stirred yet.
With a sigh, Y/N swiped her phone to answer, trying to force a smile into her voice.
"Hey," she greeted, her tone not as bright as usual.
"Y/N, I need to talk. Can you believe he—?" Her best friend's voice crackled through, and Y/N immediately recognized the all-too-familiar tone of distress. The same distress that had been constant in their friendship lately.
The phone was practically burning in Y/N's hand as her best friend continued to argue through the receiver. The same old back-and-forth, the same excuses.
Y/N's patience was wearing thin, every word hitting harder than the last. "Don't tell me you're getting back together with him"
Her best friend sighed on the other end. "He says he promised he changed and he will prove it. I love him, Y/N."
"I don't care if he says he loves you," Y/N's voice was shaking with frustration, but she couldn't stop herself. "He has said that a million times now! Do you honestly think he's changed? Do you really believe the lies he keeps feeding you?"
"Y/N, stop! You don't get it! You don't understand how he's been with me!" her best friend cried, almost pleading. She furrowed her eyebrows, her anger started bubbling inside.
"what do you mean, I don't get it?!" Y/N snapped, her voice rising. "I've been telling you this for months, for years, and you keep going back! You're letting him treat you like dirt, and I can't keep watching this happen."
Her best friend's response was softer, defensive, her voice trembling, "But I love him, Y/N... I need him."
The words hit Y/N like a slap in the face. The anger that had been simmering for weeks, months even, erupted. She gripped the phone harder, her voice rising in volume, her pulse pounding in her ears.
This had been their cycle for the past few months—her best friend swearing she'd never take her toxic ex back, Y/N offering comfort and support, telling her she would always be there for her no matter what. And then, the next day, her friend would be all lovey-dovey with him again, as if nothing had ever happened.
It was draining, watching the same thing unfold over and over. Y/N had been there, giving advice, trying to shake some sense into her best friend, but it felt like everything she said fell on deaf ears. It was exhausting—watching all of her effort to help be so carelessly thrown away the moment her best friend got caught up in the same old cycle.
"I'm not going to listen to this anymore!" Y/N yelled, her words sharp as a knife. "You keep going back to him, and every damn time it's the same thing! He's toxic, and you're letting him destroy you! I can't keep watching this, okay? I'm done being the one to clean up after his mess!"
