I've grown up in a small country in the middle of the Carribian Sea. It's not a very well-known country in the worldwide aspect, I mean if I were to move to The United States of America, or Australia and tell them I'm from Tareka, they would probaly laugh in my face and tell me I'm on drugs or something. The people of Tareka are gorgeous people. Our skin colour varies from a very light brown to a very dark brown and our hair varies also, depending on the shade of our skin. In Tareka we do have our own language, but hardly anybody uses it. Our dominant language is English. Our country has our own Royal Family also, and I happen to be apart of that family. I am the Princess of Tareka. My Royal side is inherited from my mother's family. My father married into the royal family at the age of 17, it was early but my mother and father were inlove. Not like a sappy, teenage kind of love, but a true, meaningful love. My father, unfourtunatly died when I was the age of ten. I remember him only just. The good times I remember most. There were hardly any bad times. My father died due to a war that broke out between another small country and our own. We won but we know the war is not over. Our country is very coveted by bigger and more powerful countries. Tareka is, as I said, in the middle of the Carribian sea. Far away from any form of human life, so our country would be a very great place to enforce nuclear testing. Of course the queen, myself and our people would never let anything happen to our country without putting up fight. A very strong one at that. You see my people are not.. normal, in a sense. We are not human. We are Talel. We are not your typical vampire, witches and werewolves. Although we're close to witches, our kind only exist in Tareka. We don't use spells, which seperates us from witches, or "spell-casters" as they like to put it. Also nobody has any idea that we exist. Apart from the governments, ofcourse. Our kind have many abilities - or powers. But the power of shielding our existance from humans, we don't have.

Which means that an all-out war could break out in any second. The humans under-estimate our abilities though, and although our army is small, it is far stronger than any army of humans could be.

"You're reading twilight?" scoffed Joseph, the marquess.

A smile tugged at my lips, "I think it's creative...and romantic"

Joseph rolled his eyes and plopped himself down on the couch. Joseph was only 18, a year older than myself and he was the marquess. "With all due respect, Princess" I held up my hand to silence him. The only time he ever says 'With all due respect' is when he is about to insult me.

Joseph allowed a small chuckle, "whatever, your highness."

He exagerrated the title your highness. He knows I hate it, and it's not really fitting of me, as my mother is a higher power than me in the royal world. "Joseph" A voice boomed throughout the hallways. It was his father, Anthony.

"In here dad!"

Anthony is the retired marquess. Joseph had relieved his father of the position as soon as he came of age. Which was eighteen. Thankfully that's not the way it is with the Queen. The queen stays the queen as long as she is fit for the job, and even when it is time for the Queen to step down, the prince / princess must be given at least 5 months of preperation time to get to know the procedures, though you were to be taught the basics way before your time to rule came along, so that just in case something unplanned were to happen, you would be at least a little prepared to take on your duties right away.

"Princess" Anthony's eyes were wide as he noted my presence. Joseph and I were sitting in the "common" room and Anthony had not expected me to be here.

His attention quickly shifted to his son.

"Joseph!" He hissed. "That is no way to sit infront of your princess!" He glared at his son's legs, which were perched up on the arm of the sofa.

Joseph simply shrugged, he didn't care too much for my title. He treated me like he would treat anybody in our country. I was greatful for that.

"It is quite alright, Marquess" I said, attempting to reassure him that there was no need to apologise for his son.

Anthony's cheeks flushed "I am no longer the marquess, Your majesty."

I nodded in agreement "not in the technical sense, no. But you were one of the best, and are still very useful to our kingdom" "Thankyou very much Princess" He replied, as If I had just complimented him. Which I had.

"If you would excuse my son and I.." Anthony trailed off, hoping I would pick up on what he was trying to say.

I smiled, "Ofcourse, Marquess. I myself was just about to head back to my own room."

Anthony nodded and moved inside the room to stand beside the door.

I could tell he was waiting for me to leave. The Princess must always leave before you.

I wasn't really going back to my room, I was going to see my mother.

"Your mother is in a meeting right now." my guard, Pedro announced from behind me. He was assigned to follow me everywhere I went. I realised that he was probaly - most definatly standing outside the common room while Joseph and I were in there.

"How can you be so sure I am going to see my mother?" I questioned without slowing. Pedro didn't reply although he knew that my mother's office is exactly where I was going.

"A war is coming. I need to send the Princess away, if anything happens to myself, she needs to be able to return to Tareka safe and sound to take over my position." The hushed voice of my mother explained from inside her office.

"I understand, but she would be very useful in this war.. her abilities are great" I recognized who was talking, it was Nicholas, the Duke.

"I will not risk my only heir" Mother snapped.

Nicholas let out a sigh, "As you wish, my queen."

I turned my head so I could see Pedro. He had the same look on his face that I probaly had.

I stood up out of my somewhat slouched position and walked right into my mother's office.

"What's going on?" I questioned.

Mother sighed but did not look up at me.

Nicholas looked at me like I had just walked in on him and my mother persuing each other.

"Princess." He coughed a little and stood up straight. "I will leave you and your mother to talk"

I nodded my head as Nicholas departed from my mother's office, bowing at both the Queen and myself. Nicholas was quite handsome. He was a young 23 years old, only 6 years older than myself. He technically was my betrothed. Meaning my fiance.. the man I am set to marry. Everything to do with marriage in the royal family of Tareka was arranged. I was set to marry the Duke. The Duke was Nicholas. I am meant to marry Nicholas when I turn Twenty. It should be eighteen, but father changed it when he had become king.

I focused back on mother, crossing my arms over my chest.

"Well?"

When she didn't answer me again, I became irritated.

"Tell me what's going on." I demanded. "Where are you sending me? What's this war you and Nicholas were talking about? Who is ordering this war? The humans?"

Mother cringed when I asked her about the war. She looked up at me, a looked was plastered on her face. Clear for me to see. It was a look I had never seen before - not on her at least. It was fear.

"The loiterers" Was all she said and I understood.

The loiterers are our biggest enemy, they're sirens who dwell on land. They aim to destroy our kind.
