It was a 'peaceful' day in the 20th ward, a young girl with long black hair skipping up the street to her home.

"La lala la la," she sang quietly, her hair bouncing slightly as she went along her way.

Passing by a few people, some in groups and some not, she stopped at the small convenience store not far from her home.

The girl entered the store, digging around in her bag for some money. She walked around the store calmly, grabbing her favorite iced coffee from the refrigerator near the back of the store.

While waiting for the other people in line ahead of her to finish paying for their items, a group of men walked through the automatic doors. They seemed worn out and exhausted, but the girl paid it no mind.

The raven-haired girl finally reached the counter, and placed the drink along with the exact change needed up where the cashier could reach it.

The cashier gave the girl her reciept and the girl skipped happily out of the store.

Little did that girl know, her day was about to abruptly have the curtain dropped.
