I sit on my window sill staring at Cassandra's house. I still can't believe that my BFF ditched me because she has a new BFF. I don't think I can even call her my BFF. And school has just ended. Next year I'll be in 6th grade. But I'll be alone, because no one likes to talk to me at school. They all think I'm weird. It's all Cassandra's fault. Yes, I blame her. "AnnMarie!" My mom shouted. It shocked me so much I fell off the sill. I stood up and fell back down. "Ugh," I whined. "Sorry! But I really need your help!!!" Cried my mom. I really hate it when my mom calls me for help. I have 5 other siblings and my mom calls me! I run down to see what she needs. And I see the sink flooding. "We really need to move," my mom tells me. "You tell me." I answer back. Mom just sighed. I head back to my room and fell asleep before I could eat dinner. The next day came, and I got mail from my school. It said:
Dear AnnMarie Lautner,
The school has decided to make you the Captain of the Gymnastics and Dance teams. But in order for you to be the captain of two teams. You have to go to school 4 weeks earlier. See you next Monday!
-Principal DavieI was so excited. I wanted to call Cassandra right now. But I couldn't, also because she blocked me. Wait! Next MONDAY??? What do I wear? Should I change my hair? I need an outfit! It is Friday today and I have 2 days to get myself ready for 6th grade. So first I talk to my dog about this, then I tell Anna. My older sister, but the most caring one. Then I tell mom and Dad. But out of all those people, I think, no, I know that Anna was the only one who cared. And since I have no BFF, Anna helped me prepare myself. "You're the best, Anna!" I keep telling her. "Ann, I have an idea. Since people don't like you. Yeah? I have an idea for you at school." She replied. She calls me Ann all the time. "What is it!?!" I asked her. "You might not like it, Ann." "I'll take what I can get." I answered. "Act like you are not you. Just change yourself. Don't tell mom or dad." She smiles. She makes a face at me. And I know what she means. She's telling me that tomorrow she's brining me to the mall. Anna goes back to her room, and I figure how my hair should look. And soon enough I take a small nap. "ANNMARIE ROSALYN NICOLE LAUTNER!" Screams my mom. I obviously woke up. Duh! "You know I don't like it when you're taking naps in the afternoon." She scowls and gives me a big hug. I went downstairs to eat dinner. Everyone is finished eating, but me. Again. After dinner Anna told me about her 6th grade year. Then I went to sleep. If you can't tell, sleeping is one of my talents. Shopping day!!! Anna does not have a drivers license so Anna convinced my older brother, Anthony, to drive us to the mall. Amy comes along because she's going to a friend's house. Amy is younger than me 4 years. But she's been at sleepovers every week. Anna buys me a bunch of clothes, with little paper coupons. Then we buy new makeup, then new hair accessories. We head to the bathroom to try them on. When Anna finished, I looked like a magazine model!!! Then we go back and change back into my normal clothes. It's time for school now. Anna helps me with my hair, because last time I used a curler by myself. I got it stuck on my shirt. I don't know how, OK? I put my gymnastics and dance clothes in my gym bag. I look like a diva right now, it's insane, but cute. Mom drove me to school, like always. I've started driving to school ever since Cassandra ditched me. I skipped breakfast because I was too much in a rush. "School, meet new girl. New girl, meet school. " I mumbled as I got out of the car. I see Principal Davie at the front gates. The school was quiet, very quiet. I wasn't the only one there though. The soccer captain was there too. And the Art and Crafts kids were there too! There was a few gymnasts and dancers too! That makes me happy. That I won't be leading some air, on where to go. Then we all head inside. I sit at a desk, and smile proudly. I've come this far, I didn't think my 6th grade would start this way. Even though I'm not learning anything but dance and gymnastics. It is school, and It's no dream. I pinched myself to make sure I was awake. "Are you okay? Miss. Lautner?" Principal Davie asked. I smiled crookedly back. And just nodded. I kept smiling, as we met our coaches and teachers. Most of the kids were smiling nonstop too! That makes me feel not alone. We sit and talk. BORING. I just wanna dance.
