A Chuck & Blair white party/ after white party story. I do not own Gossip Girl or any of the characters mentioned. Sorry it's really long, haha. Hope you enjoy! :)

************************

Blair looked down at her feet, thinking about the White Party. Thinking about how James was actually named Marcus. How he was actually a lord. But worst of all, she thought about a certain smug jerk who left her and made her summer hell. Chuck Bass.

She heard subtle footsteps from behind her and turned her head to see who it was. "Chuck." she abruptly stated. The man on her mind. As soon as she saw him coming into her view she tried to fight the swarming in her stomach and the sweat gathering in her palms. There was chemistry there. But there was also history. He left her and chose to spend his summer with a different girl each night instead of just being with her. Blair had to admit, it hurt. And it still did, which is why she used James to make him jealous. But that was before James was Marcus and before Blair decided she actually had feelings for the lord. "Aren't you done trying to ruin my night?"

Without missing a beat, Chuck responded, "Look, I should never have abandoned you. I knew I made the wrong decision as soon as the plane took off," His eyes studied Blair's slightly surprised face, taking in her beauty. Now knowing the truth about Blair's royal boy toy, he felt intimidated. He could never win her over now. Unless she felt the same about him still. "I distracted myself all summer, hoping I wouldn't feel it. But I still do."

Blair stared back. "And?" She shouldn't be falling for this. She shouldn't be giving him a chance to explain himself. Chuck hurt her, that was all that mattered. But she couldn't tear her eyes away from his pleading face.

"I was scared," Chuck admitted. "I was scared... that if we spent the whole summer together, just us, you would see."

"See what?"

"Me." He stepped closer towards Blair, taking her soft, delicate hands into his shaking ones. "Please don't leave with him," he whispered.

"Why?" Blair said coolly. Her eyes darted all over his face as she breathed in deeply. "Give me a reason. And "I'm Chuck Bass" doesn't count."

"Because you don't want to," He tried to pull her in closer.

She stood still, blinking and shaking her head. "Not good enough," Chuck had anticipated the response coming from her glossed lips and answered back immediately.

"Because I don't want you to," he said but Blair was already shaking her head and looking down.

"It's not enough," Her voice sounded dry and tight, as if she would burst into tears any second. Chuck Bass wasn't worth her time. He wasn't a romantic or in love with her. He wasn't meant to be with one girl. And he definitely wasn't meant to be with Blair. So why was she still listening to him, here, now? She could walk away, be with Marcus. The cold truth smacked her in her face - Blair wasn't over Chuck. And she suspected she never would be.

He gazed at her for a moment, thinking intently. "What else is there?"

"The true reason I should stay right where I am and not get in the car," Chuck knew what was coming and his stomach twisted. He knew what she was asking of him. The same thing he had been trying to deny all summer. Chuck had never admitted it before, not to himself, not to her, not to anyone. He couldn't. Because if he did, he would be a goner. In too deep, no escape from Blair Waldorf. She would consume his every thought, eating him alive until all he would ever want for the rest of his life was to be with her. In her arms, in her presence, in her life, forever. But standing here, in front of the most beautiful girl in his eyes, Chuck Bass felt safe. If he said, finally admitted it, he would be happy.
