Author's Note

I'm going to be VERY straightforward here. I completely forgot I made this. For anyone possibly opening this after reading this nearly 10 years ago, I want to explain why it was initially listed as nonfiction. To clarify once and for all, this is FICTION. To anyone reading this for the first time and possibly after I've edited through and through, here is an explanation to why this chapter will remain here.

As a preteen, many friends and I were completely infatuated with fantasy roleplay on various online forums together. This MUST have been a take on some of the stories I had cooked up in my own head yet never shared with any of those friends.

Reading this back now, I can see why. It's like astral projecting and questioning, "Who is that down there?" But it's yourself. At first, when opening this, I had a quick thought, "Huh? have i been hacked? When did this happen?"

After getting through the first bit, I immediately realized this was one of my very poor attempts at my own little short story. The language is sometimes out of touch with reality, and the vocabulary is extremely childish. The timelines don't connect, and characters were completely renamed without explanation multiple times. Admittedly, I'm ashamed y'all.

Please bare with me. For the next few weeks, I will keep coming back to this and revising this work to make it easier to digest. The foundation is good, but the details show my maturity and knowledge of that time. It's very clear I tried to sell this as my true story instead of simply noting that this is a character backstory. My revisions will make this clear, I hope.

Rereading this gave me some ideas, so I'm going to share them here as a little epilogue before I start. Fairly warning, I haven't been writing since high school, so it will take me a bit to get back in the correct groove. Each chapter so far from what I can see is a character intro. I also gathered that I previously attempted to write the same narrative for myself over on Quotev before they ruined the site.

Onto the vision for this estranged project. I'm just going to touch up what's already there and keep the details while making it feel more realistic. The plan is to then add a few more characters to support the story. And that's when I will take a break to muddle on my revisions and bring them to life with new chapters.

Maybe this will be my first completed novel, guys! I'm excited to see where this takes us and anxious to have you along with me on this rollercoaster ride (if anyone is still reading or following).
