I'm a fighter. I'm a survivor, and I'll get through anything people can throw at me.

Everything had gone wrong. Everything had gone spectacularly wrong.

After Dowling had left them, the girls had returned to the little outbuilding. If only to work out what was going on and what they would have to do.

Only to get a text from Musa about what had happened at the school. The Blood Witches had invaded the school. Taking over all the Specialists and dragging all the faires into the basement to take their magic.

All the students had been caught utterly unprepared.

If there had been any shred of hope in Cynthia for the blood witches, it was all gone now.

They had attacked children in their beds. Children who shouldn't have a place in this war. But children who had been forced into the centre stage.

Cynthia had sent a message to Silva to tell him what had happened. To tell him that she needed to talk to him.

She hadn't expected an immediate response. She knew that he was in the middle of an operation. Even if that operation was a trap.

But yet she got a near instantaneous response from her godfather.

Promising that the Specialists would come back. That he would talk to her as soon as he could.

So when they had returned, meeting them at the cottage, she had been relieved. Then she had been worried. Because Sky and Nox had not been with them.

But Silva had seemed unperturbed, not mentioning it to Cynthia. So she chose not to bring it up either. Maybe there was something no one was telling her, and she wasn't sure if she was quite willing to ask.

Bloom and Cynthia stood in front of the Specialists. "The attack was over in about 20 minutes. I don't know how many Blood Witches, but enough to take over every Specialist there." Cynthia tells them. "They knew you were making a move on their hideout."

"And we drank the last of the Blood Witch antidote," Riven mutters. "Fucker."

"They took over every Specialist?" Silva questions.

"Mm-hmm." Bloom nods. "And fairies didn't have it much better. Sebastian basically brought an army of scrapers to take them down."

"Are they all drained?"

"Not yet. They're being held under the school, taken to him one by one." Bloom answers.

"That's Bavani," Cynthia added, showing him a video. "We're thinking that he can't handle a lot of magic at once."

"So there's still time to save some of them." Silva nods. "That's good. Good intel."

"Well, it's all Musa," Bloom tells him. "She's hiding in the school. She was able to avoid detection, but Flora wasn't so lucky."
