and though you fight to stay alive, your body starts to shiver, for no mere mortal, can resist the evil of the thriller

NEARY TWO YEARS ago, a nightmare swept through the once, quiet and safe town of Woodsboro, California. In October 1996, two seemingly ordinary teenage boys went on a rampage, killing multiple people, and nearly taking more lives.

The Woodsboro Massacre, as it came to be known - or more accurately, as Gale Weathers branded it in her new, best-selling book. She was one of the few survivors of that horrific night, and now, the whole country knew the town's name and the brutal story that unfolded within it.

And when something like that happens, what do people do? They turn it into a damn movie.

Tonight, April 12th, 1998, was the premiere of Stab - a horror film based on the Woodsboro Massacre. People all over Ohio had flocked to the nearest theaters, eager to see the on-screen events of the gruesome murders.

One of those people was Nathan Ellis, the twin brother of Kathryn Ellis, one of the final girls who survived Billy Loomis' and Stu Macher's killing spree.

"Yo, I know this movie's supposed to be bomb, and a lot of people are expected to show up, but why is traffic so damn slow?"

"I don't know, numb nuts, maybe because a lot of people are expected to show up?" Skeet muttered from the driver's seat. He was one of the few people Nathan befriended since moving to Ohio, and enrolling in Windsor College.

Nathan rolled his eyes from the backseat, fiddling with the joint between his fingers. "Here's a thought, how about you both shut the fuck up for once?"

Matthew twisted in his seat to face Nathan, raising his eyebrows in amusement. "Well damn, Nate!" he chuckled, looking over at Skeet, who sat in silence, eyes locked on the slow-moving traffic. "Didn't think you had it in you, especially considering how... quiet you've been lately."

"Maybe it's because I'm not exactly pumped to watch a movie based on the night my sister nearly died," Nathan snapped, bitterness curling around his words. His stomach churned just thinking about it.

Nathan hadn't wanted to come to the premiere of Stab. But it was his nineteenth birthday, and his friends had dragged him out of his dorm, insisting it would be "fun." They were just as persistent as they were annoying.

And, truth be told, he was a little curious - curious to see how the media had twisted the tragedy that had forever altered his family. His sister, Kathryn, had been so closed off about that night. No matter how many times Nathan had asked her, she never talked about it.

Nathan had questions - so many questions. And guilt. A lot of guilt for leaving Stu Macher's house that night when everything went down. If he'd stayed, maybe he could've stopped what happened. Maybe Kathryn wouldn't have ended up in the hospital, in a coma for so many months.

A coma she was incredibly lucky to come out of alive.

He shook the thought off as the car finally rolled up to the theater, neon lights glowing brightly against the night. The line outside was long and loud with excited chatter.

Matthew looped his arm around Nathan's and Skeet's shoulders as they joined the line. "Man, I really hope I see a nice pair of tits tonight," he grinned, earning an eye-roll from Skeet. "'Cause if I don't, I'm like, suing this theater."
